While I love fancy cocktail parties and getting dressed up to sip champagne at wine bars, I don’t think you need a special occasion to dress up. Dressing up doesn’t have to be expensive either. This look I put together for well under $100 which means I’ll probably spend more on fancy drinks than I did on the outfit.
The dress is from Target, the pumps were a steal from Famous Footwear, the necklace a found on clearance at Nanette Lepore and the clutch is vintage (it was a gift from one of my very best friends). Now that I’ve discovered Elizabeth Arden‘s Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick, I need to start wearing red lipstick more. My favorite shade is “Red to Wear” and I love how the lipstick case looks like Elizabeth Arden’s iconic red door.
Whether you’re single or taken, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate your love of fashion, pink hearts, and radiant red lipstick. It’s also a great time of year to either get sent or send yourself a lovely bouquet of flowers. That is of course if you even remember it’s Valentine’s Day in between viewing the latest Fall Collections at New York Fashion Week which runs from Feb. 7th-14th. So before I get caught up in the glamour of viewing the next fall season at Lincoln Center, I’m putting together an amazing lists of Valentine’s Day gifts for every budget without the typical corniness that tends to follow this holiday. So treat yourself or a friend to some Valentine’s Day fabulosity. Or if you’re super subtile, send your significant other a link to this post.
Socialite or Vampire? Both are pretty glam. After a long break from the limelight, red lipstick is back. To tell you the truth, the last time I wore red lipstick or lipstick at all, was as a child on Halloween. Before recently, when lipstick came to mind, I always thought of it as something only my mother or my grandmother wore. Now, it just makes me think of Hollywood. In spite of the fact that the red lip phenomenon is now the hottest reemerged fad in beauty, I’m not quite sure if it’s for me. Either this is not quite my color or I have yet to perfect the skill of applying deep color to my lips because I’m so used to lip gloss. As you can see, however, I have no trouble applying black liquid liner to my eyes. I learned that skill long ago and I’m very thankful I did. Any advice on how I should wear lipstick? Or should this socialite just stick to lip gloss?
