Once upon a time in the summer of 2009, directly after my graduation from Syracuse University’s prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, I found myself wandering the streets of New York City with nothing to my name, but Daddy’s Credit Card. My once glamorous future was looking gloomy. That moment got even gloomier when I walked past a bank that displayed the stocks on a ticker out front. Having nothing better to do, I sat there watching the numbers fly by. Every single one was red.
It was there on a nameless corner in Midtown Manhattan, that I had an epiphany. Someday I would live like a socialite and exist happily above society with the utmost independence both financially & fashionably. I took to the Internet that night intent on tweeting my way out of this mess and into high society. I ironically discovered that by being a little bit more like Mark Zuckerburg, I could be a lot more like Gossip Girl‘s Serena Van Der Woodsen. Before I knew it, I had turned the red stock exchange into a red carpet and I found myself a socialite.
I hope you enjoy my very pretentious blog, my socialite adventures, & this Cinderella story for the social media age!
