On the Edge in Leather and Over the Knee Boots

While my style is overall pretty preppy, I have an edgy side too. Once there’s a chill in the air, I simply can’t get enough of floppy hats, over the knee boots and leather jackets. I also have a huge thing for black nail polish.

For this edgy look, I headed to Flushing, the last stop on the 7 train, in my Leather Biker Jacket from MangoRock & Republic Kashmiere Jeggings and of course a fab wool floppy hat.  I topped off the look with a Zip Tote Bag and Lauren B. Beauty Black Nail Couture.

Boho Chic Fall Fashion

In the Northeast, transitioning your wardrobe into fall and eventually winter is no simple task. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put all of my summer clothes neatly away only to come head to head with an 80 degree day in late October. So I’ve since learned to transition into fall slowly and stylishly.

Part of making a slow stylish transition into the colder months is to pair your new fall pieces with your summer favorites. For this fab pre-fall look, I combined my new Old Navy Felt Floppy Hat and Old Navy T Strap Platform Clogs with an Aztec Print Dress from Express. The long sleeves give it a fall look while the short length keeps things comfortable should the temperatures hit the high 70s.

I love the floppy hat look for fall, but the wool hats will usually run you well over $50. With this Felt Floppy Hat from Old Navy, you can get this must have fall look for less than $20.

Cocktail Attire

dressy summer oufit OOTD

While I love fancy cocktail parties and getting dressed up to sip champagne at wine bars, I don’t think you need a special occasion to dress up. Dressing up doesn’t have to be expensive either. This look I put together for well under $100 which means I’ll probably spend more on fancy drinks than I did on the outfit.

The dress is from Target, the pumps were a steal from Famous Footwear, the necklace a found on clearance at Nanette Lepore‎ and the clutch is vintage (it was a gift from one of my very best friends). Now that I’ve discovered Elizabeth Arden‘s Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick, I need to start wearing red lipstick more. My favorite shade is “Red to Wear” and I love how the lipstick case looks like Elizabeth Arden’s iconic red door.

Black & Blue

I’ve always loved the combination of black and blue.  So I decided to put together an outfit based on my blog’s unique design.  Like all great outfits nowadays, this look is a great mixture of high and low designers.  I know I should really be modeling these outfits like the rest of the fashion blogger community, but in light of cash flow issues keeping me away from these breathtaking cobalt blue Jimmy Choo pumps, I’ll have to settle for the next best thing.  As a socialite on a budget, putting together outfits and pinning wanted items on Pinterest is very therapeutic for me.  I get almost as much satisfaction from pinning the stuff that I want as I do actually making purchases.  Here’s how to get this glam black and blue look:

1.  MARC Faceted Round Blue Ring: Silver jewelry goes perfectly with this look.  I wouldn’t even try to wear gold with this color scheme.  This cocktail ring is bound to sparkle.

2.  Holy Harlot Cobalt Rex Earrings: These unique featherlike earring were pretty much made to be worn with this outfit.

3.  Jimmy Choo Cosmic Suede Pump: Obsessed with these!!  I would also put these with a little black dress for the cobalt blue to really pop.  These Jimmy Choos are by far my favorite aspect of this look.

4.  Dorothy Perkins Black/Cobalt Slash Neck Dress: Lately, I’ve become a huge of of Dorothy Perkins’ affordable dress designs.

5.  Rimmel London HD Union Jack Eyeshadow: As a blue-eyed girl, I’m a huge fan of the smokey eye.  For those on a budget or who have spent too much on Jimmy Choos, Rimmel makes great moderately-price makeup.

6.  Rebecca Minkoff Romeo Satchel: Since so many of the accessories in this look are loud and colorful, I chose to go with a simple black bag.
