Highlights of Halloween 2011

Halloween Highlight #1: Here I am looking dark and scary at last week’s Definition 6 Halloween bash.  The theme was vampires so I dressed as me only vampire in red, black, and bright red lipstick.  I’m already pale so my natural skintone totally went with my outfit.  Since I had no idea this picture was being taken, it’s a great candid shot of the vampire me.  As I always say, socialites make the best vampires because we like to sleep all day (or at least till noon) and go out all night.

Halloween Highlight #2: Trick or treat?  If Ryan Seacrest says it’s true, then it’s true.  After rumors of a turbulent two month marriage, Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from Kris Humphries today.  Is it bad luck to file for divorce on Halloween?  Each rumor and conspiracy theory is crazier than the last when it comes to this short-lived romance and/or business arrangement.  I guess all that fighting during Kim’s Fairytale Wedding on E! between Kim and Kris wasn’t just for the cameras. It’s no wonder the Kardashian sisters refer to Kim as Elizabeth Taylor for her many marriages and love for diamonds.  Maybe that’s who she should go as for Halloween?

Once upon a time (or was it last week,) there was a celebrity couple named Kim and Kris. Was a timely divorce always the plan from the begining? I guess we’ll never know.

Halloween Highlight #3: Thanks to this Audi A6 commercial featuring its thermal imaging night vision, I’ve had that “Teddy Bear Picnic” song stuck in my head for days. But, I don’t mind because I’ve always wanted an Audi.

Starting Off my Birthday Weekend with Cake Flavored Vodka

Holidayyyyyy! Celebrateeee! I pride myself on living everyday like it’s my birthday. However, it is soon to be my actual birthday making my life even more special. Happy almost Birthday to ME! Tomorrow, on September 4th I will celebrate 25 years of excellence with my friends and family. Thanks to Labor Day, I always get the gift of a long weekend every year around my birthday. Flavored vodka is a pinnacle part of any celebration. Therefore, I could not be more excited about the recent introduction of cake flavored vodka. It really tastes and smells like pound cake. Perfect for celebrating any occasion particularly a birthday.  The bottle is even decorated with sprinkles like a real birthday cake.

When you’re a socialite, champagne and vodka serve as essential food groups.  Cake flavored vodka is best served straight up or on the rocks.  But, if you really want a mixed drink, it is also good with Ginger Ale and ice.  I loved it so much that I kind of get carried away with the pictures.

Blow out the candles and make a wish! I wish to live like a socialite. Opps! I told my wish. Whatever! I was never one to follow the rules, especially not around my birthday.

Front Row at the Express 2011 Holiday Collection Preview in Times Square

Socialites are no strangers to finding themselves front row at major fashion shows. Thanks to the generous invite of Lucky Magazine and Express, I found myself front row at Express’ 2011 Holiday Collection Preview in Times Square just a few feet away from Catherine Malandrino. Prior to showing their holiday collection, Express broke a record earlier that day for the biggest fashion show ever setting a world record for the most people to walk down a runway.

Before the show, seven other bloggers including My Visa Hates Me, Pretty Connected, Court and Hudson, MissWhoever You Are, Sweet Caroline in the City, Diary of a Fashion Addict, The Budget Babe, and I were invited to the penthouse of the Muse Hotel for some pre-runway drinks and makeup touch ups with Pre-Dame. I absolutely loved the makeup they chose for me complimented by my first set of false eyelashes, which were perfect for the occasion. After getting glam at The Muse, we were off to the heart of Times Square for some backstage access into the show. I have to say that this was the hottest runway show I have ever been to in far more ways than one. In the mist of a heat wave, the models flawlessly walked down the runway in this year’s winter fashions and holiday dresses. The energy was absolutely amazing and I am so honored to have been chosen to be a part of it.

Socialites love bling and this skirt has it!

Express’ Holiday 2011 Collection is full of sparkle.  Prefect for holiday party dresses.

Love the blue in the skirt and of course the sparkles in the top.

Can you spot Catherine Malandrino?

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo 2011 Socialites! Real Housewife of New York, Bethenny Frankel, once said, “Relationships are about compromise, my Margaritas aren’t.” This being a low-key party holiday makes it a socialite signature. Both abroad and about town, many a socialite will be seen doing what they do best: mingling over drinks in adorable outfits. Cinco de Mayo is the one day a year in which socialites trade in their tall glasses of champagne in exchange for more festive beverages such as Sangria, Margaritas, and Corona. Today, for the first time ever, I am revealing a super secret Margarita recipe passed down from socialite to socialite for generations.

How to make a genuine Socialite Margarita:

Step 1: Catch the next plane to Mexico for an authentic tropical experience.

Step 2: Check into the nearest beachside 5 star resort.

Step 3: Swim or walk up to the hotel bar and order a margarita.

Step 4: Lie back in a beach chair and enjoy!

For those of you watching your bikini body this Cinco de Mayo, try Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl Margaritas. Not only are they made with all natural ingredients, these premade Margaritas are also only 100 calories for every 4 oz. Now that is a drink even Jillian Michaels would approve of.

And They Lived Happily Ever After

Waking up at 4 a.m. was totally worth it! As suspected Kate Middleton walked down the aisle in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen followed by her sister and maid of honor, Pippa, also wearing Sarah Burton. Kate did her own makeup, which looked wonderful. I also really liked that she wore her hair down. As I watched the guests arrive at Westminster Abbey, I fell in love with the hats and the fascinators. I totally wish we did that here in the United States. I may have to call on Philip Treacy to design me a hat for the next wedding I attend. Aside from being the “Socialite Superbowl,” this wedding was truly a celebration of love and tradition. Along with millions of women (and grown men) around the world, I shed a few tears as they said their vows. The royals are often trendsetters for us socialites here in New York. As they break convention and embrace the people, we will do the same. Congratulations again to Will and Kate. May you live long happy lives together.
