August marks my 4th Anniversary as a resident of Manhattan and I’m hoping for many more years here in the Big Apple. The Mayans were wrong. So it’s time to start thinking about how you can make a statement on New Year’s Eve. This year, I will be braving the crowds and craziness by celebrating the New Year in Times Square. Since millions will be watching and Ryan Seacrest will be there, I plan on putting my best foot forward for 2013 by stepping out on the 31st in the hottest outfit and accessories all while leaving a surplus of money in my pocket for prosperity in the New Year. To do this, I’ll be shopping for the perfect party dress, shoes, and clutch at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls for up to 60% less than department stores. This way, I can look fabulous in the center of the universe on New Year’s Eve wearing my favorite trends and designer pieces (for less). See you when the ball drops socialites!
Follow these tips when shopping for the perfect outfit to welcome 2013:
· Get glam! Accessories can make an outfit. T.J.Maxx has amazing, designer jewelry for unbelievable prices. Look for bold statement earrings and necklaces to spice up your look.
· Make sure you’re dressed to impress! Maximize your glow by throwing on a fabulous dress (or skirt) that sparkles and shines.
· Step out into the New Year with a pair of killer heels – infuse some personality and look for metallic, snakeskin, and embellished pumps to put some pep in your step.
· Don’t forget to stay warm! Throw on a chic leather jacket and luxurious scarf in a rich color to keep you looking party-ready even in the cold.
Socialites are no strangers to finding themselves front row at major fashion shows. Thanks to the generous invite of Lucky Magazine and Express, I found myself front row at Express’ 2011 Holiday Collection Preview in Times Square just a few feet away from Catherine Malandrino. Prior to showing their holiday collection, Express broke a record earlier that day for the biggest fashion show ever setting a world record for the most people to walk down a runway.
Before the show, seven other bloggers including My Visa Hates Me, Pretty Connected, Court and Hudson, MissWhoever You Are, Sweet Caroline in the City, Diary of a Fashion Addict, The Budget Babe, and I were invited to the penthouse of the Muse Hotel for some pre-runway drinks and makeup touch ups with Pre-Dame. I absolutely loved the makeup they chose for me complimented by my first set of false eyelashes, which were perfect for the occasion. After getting glam at The Muse, we were off to the heart of Times Square for some backstage access into the show. I have to say that this was the hottest runway show I have ever been to in far more ways than one. In the mist of a heat wave, the models flawlessly walked down the runway in this year’s winter fashions and holiday dresses. The energy was absolutely amazing and I am so honored to have been chosen to be a part of it.
