Fashion’s Night Out Insanity in Meatpacking

Like thousands of other great fashionistas, I spent my Fashion’s Night Out 2011 cursing the shops of the Meatpacking District in search of free drinks and couture. It’s like one big free party where the guests of honor are the clothes. I started out the evening with a mixed drink at Hugo Boss. There, I got the urge to take a picture of myself in the mirror to show off both my outfit and the store as a whole. I kept doing this at every single store throughout the night.

My next stop was Matthew Williamson (pictured left) where the colors were vibrant as always. Due to some rambunctious fashion lovers last year, the House of Matthew Williamson had a strict two drink maximum. With lines around the block, Alexander McQueen was harder to get into than Will and Kate’s Royal Wedding. So I headed over to Diane von Furstenberg which had crowds of its own and some really awesome dresses. After stopping by Catherine Malandrino and Scoop, I hopped around some more and finished the evening with a mojito at Carlos Mieli. FNO is always a good time.

On Fashion’s Night Out, celebrities make appearances everywhere. I was secretly hoping to see a Kardashian. The girls from the new cast of America’s Next Top Model All Stars took over the Express store in SoHo.

The crazy shoes of FNO! Everyone was taking pictures of this girl’s shoes.

The streets of Meatpacking were transformed into a couture-driven Disney World. Can’t wait until next year.

Front Row at the Express 2011 Holiday Collection Preview in Times Square

Socialites are no strangers to finding themselves front row at major fashion shows. Thanks to the generous invite of Lucky Magazine and Express, I found myself front row at Express’ 2011 Holiday Collection Preview in Times Square just a few feet away from Catherine Malandrino. Prior to showing their holiday collection, Express broke a record earlier that day for the biggest fashion show ever setting a world record for the most people to walk down a runway.

Before the show, seven other bloggers including My Visa Hates Me, Pretty Connected, Court and Hudson, MissWhoever You Are, Sweet Caroline in the City, Diary of a Fashion Addict, The Budget Babe, and I were invited to the penthouse of the Muse Hotel for some pre-runway drinks and makeup touch ups with Pre-Dame. I absolutely loved the makeup they chose for me complimented by my first set of false eyelashes, which were perfect for the occasion. After getting glam at The Muse, we were off to the heart of Times Square for some backstage access into the show. I have to say that this was the hottest runway show I have ever been to in far more ways than one. In the mist of a heat wave, the models flawlessly walked down the runway in this year’s winter fashions and holiday dresses. The energy was absolutely amazing and I am so honored to have been chosen to be a part of it.

Look at me! I’m backstage!

Socialites love bling and this skirt has it!

Express’ Holiday 2011 Collection is full of sparkle.  Prefect for holiday party dresses.

Love the blue in the skirt and of course the sparkles in the top.

Can you spot Catherine Malandrino?

Disclaimer: Aspiring Socialite was gifted a $200 Express Gift Card along with Express’ Mesh Overlay Rouched Dress and Tiered Fringe Long Necklace to wear to the fashion show.

Fashion’s Night Out 2010 at Catherine Malandrino

Fashion is power!  It has a profound power over me.  For my first ever Fashion’s Night Out as a New Yorker, I sipped champagne and organic cocktails at the beautiful Catherine Malandrino store in the world-famous Meatpacking District. The clothes looked even more amazing on this special night and the store came alive with the sounds of a DJ spinning the hot tunes of today and decades past.  It was a good thing we got there early because by 8:30 p.m. there was a line out the door.

Not only did I get a free bag to commemorate my experience, I also had my hair done compliments of Blow, the New York blow dry bar.  After having a ball at the House of Catherine Malandrino, I made my way over to the Apple store to celebrate fashion through a photo shoot powered by Mac technology.  It was a night worthy of socialite status.  Anyone who has ever dreamed of fashion and all it stands for could feel the magic in the air.  I must admit, however, that I did commit a fashion faux pas when I took off my heels in the middle of the store because my feet needed a break.  But, like I always say, a socialite never compromises or explains herself.  So whatever.  I have already begun to count down the days until Fashion’s Night Out 2011!
