Lately, I’ve been feeling like something is missing from my wardrobe and I soon realized it was a supply of statement necklaces. Statement jewelry is not only all the rage, they’re also a great wardrobe investment that can add a personal flare to any outfit. But, they don’t have to be an investment at all. Though many dazzling statement pieces retail in the $400-$600 range, there are plenty of adorable statement pieces for under $50 and even as low as under $20. They’re perfect to wear to a job interview or important meeting as a stylish way to be remembered. Here are some of my favorite statement necklaces all for under $50:
1. Pink & Orange Stone Charm Statement Necklace ($16.00) 2. 2b Store Cinderella Statement Necklace ($16.95) 3. Natasha Faceted Round Statement Necklace ($38.00) 4. ASOS Spring Stone Necklace ($42.39) 5. Sabine Flower Cabachon Statement Necklace on Piperlime ($42.00) 6. Alfani Gold-Tone Glass Teardrop Statement Necklace ($18.99)

Marilyn Monroe at Macy’s Preview

Macy’s just unveiled their exclusive Marilyn Monroe Collection dedicated to the sassy style of the 21st Century Hollywood icon. If there’s anywhere for Miss Monroe to come back to life, it’s in a movie theater. So Tribeca Cinemas was the perfect place to hold the preview. This flirty and fun collection, said to be a modern take on the starlet’s retro style, will be available at 150 Macy’s stores and online in March. I’ve always been fascinated by the life and mysterious death of the iconic Marilyn Monroe. Having been captivated by many Lifetime movies about her, I can’t wait to dress like the girl once known as Norma Jean.
I’m so happy that this collection is launching just in time for spring. I adore all of the reds, pinks, and figure flattering styles. The soft blues, cherry prints, and polka dots give the collection a soft girl next door quality. I could totally see myself wearing various pieces on the boardwalk this summer during a beachside weekend. With prices from $29 to $89, you don’t have to be on a Hollywood budget to snag a sexy halter dress or gingham tie-front button-down top. I think Macy’s needs to come out with a Jackie collection next. After all, it’s only fair.

American Rag Collection & “It Girl” Lenay Dunn

Earlier this week, I spent the evening with music and fashion insiders at American Rag’s It-Girl Launch featuring their latest brand ambassador, Lenay Dunn, the host of MTV’s 10 on Top. They served killer themed cocktails including South by Southwestern Peach, Bamboozle Sunrise, and Warped Punch. They were delicious and Lenay was super nice. Did you know she lives in Nashville and flies to New York each week to shoot her show? As Macy’s American Rag official spokesperson, Lenay will be reporting backstage from the hottest music festivals including SXSW, Bamboozle and Warped and Lollapalooza Brazil.
I strolled around W.i.P. in Soho previewing American Rag‘s Spring 2012 looks all of which were perfect to wear to any of the upcoming music festivals. I so wish I was going to SXSW this year. I know I’ll make it someday though.

Kate Young Macy’s INC Editor at Large

Did you know they have an ice skating rink out front? Until the other night, I had no idea. The view from the top is unmatched, especially when viewing outfits styled by Kate Young. I would 110% wear every outfit this INC Editor at Large put together with Macy’s signature INC line.
In order to be your own celebrity stylist, you must take inspiration from renown editors and stylists. According to Kate, one of spring 2012′s best trends is a tribal mood that starts with tie dye.

Doo.ri for Macy’s Impulse Preview at Danji

I’m kind of over winter, but with all this global warming stuff you never know what kind of weather you’re going to get anyway. In the world of fashion, however, the seasons are always something you can depend on. Yesterday, I had the best tofu I ever had in my life at Danji when I previewed the Doo.ri for Impulse collection coming to Macy’s stores Feb. 15th. Doo.ri Chung is a Korean-American fashion designer who studied at Parsons, worked at head designer at Geoffrey Beene, and later started her own line out of the basement of her parents’ dry cleaning business. Her designs have been worn by moguls such as First Lady, Michelle Obama.
This is truly a spring collection complete with light coats and sweaters for those cold spring days that you always tend to run into when you’ve been craving warm weather. I’m a huge fan of the colors, the unique draping Doo.ri is known for, and the price point. Doo.ri for Impulse pieces are priced on average from $39-$159.
