Merry Christmas Darlings!

Merry Christmas!! I have always been intrigued by The Carpenter’s hit holiday single Merry Christmas Darling.  Whenever I am doing Christmas shopping and this song comes on, I take a moment to listen to the lyrics.  Their haunting qualities truly capture a feeling of emptiness that is unfortunately often part of Christmas when loved ones are far way.  On the path to socialite stardom the feeling is often mutual.  Sometimes for an Aspiring Socialite, a miracle on 34th St. can seem millions of miles away.  Every epic odyssey has its highs and lows, but it’s only the fairy tale ending that everyone always remembers.  Mine is no exception.  Sometimes on a clear wintery night in New York City, you can find me strolling alone through the streets of Soho staring longingly into the windows of Chanel, Burberry, and various high-end boutiques just as Audrey Hepburn did so many years ago in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  If I can’t have full custody over the couture I desire, I can at least have supervised visitation rights.  However, as I always tweet, I have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to my fans.  I want wish all of my wonderful readers a very Merry Christmas.  Everytime I raise my glass this holiday, it will be to you.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my darling fans!!

Christmas Eve by Bergdorf Goodman

Since the moment I saw this collectors worthy Bergdorf Goodman Snow Globe from the Franz Collection, I knew it was something every Aspiring Socialite should have on her mantel atop a rolling fire.  Showing a scenic view of the Bergdorf Goodman storefront in the winter of another time, this piece evokes thoughts of family and friends bearing holiday greetings.  Not to mention the millions of deals to be found during the after Christmas sales bound to take place inside that very department store beginning December 26.

Sometimes beauty and luxury can be found in the simple details such as the flicker of a light or the care you took in wrapping that special gift.  I know it’s not Thanksgiving, but before you unwrap your gifts, take a moment to admire your tree and be thankful for what you do have.  Take a break for a while, but, come New Year’s Eve remember to pick up where you left off in your socialite aspirations.  For 2011 holds far more of high society to conquer.  For example, I strongly admire the fine detail the artists at Bergdorf Goodman put into their holiday window displays centered around the theme of travel.

Christmas Cards: The Kardashians Go Nice; Paris Hilton Goes Naughty

Seeing that I am far too busy blogging my way into high society, I have not gotten around to sending out this year’s Christmas cards, however, lucky for those on the most elite of Christmas lists, Paris Hilton and the Kardashian Klan have theirs stamped and sent.  With a successful reality series, endorsement deals, and clothing lines, the Kardashains have had an incredibly successful year.  Therefore, it is no surprise that their Christmas card reflects the decadence of old Hollywood with the entire family clad in evening wear on the backdrop of a grand staircase. According to Kim Kardashian, her family Christmas card is one of favorite holiday traditions.  Audrey Hepburn would be proud.

To the other socialite extreme, the world’s most famous heiress, Paris Hilton, took a less traditional approach by posing Marilyn Monroe style in a low-cut sequin dress.  Since, Paris likes to be the center of attention, it is no surprise that none of the other Hiltons joined her in her holiday greetings.  Though some say this card is more naughty than nice, I think she was just saving paper by covering both Christmas and New Year’s Eve with the same card.  Happy Holidays Socialites! Feel free to send your holiday greetings my way.

My 2010 Christmas List

Inspired by my favorite holiday song, Santa Baby, I decided to completely bling out my pint-sized Christmas tree Tiffany’s style. Though my original plan was to have ornaments for all of the excessive luxury items mentioned in the song, I found it impossible to find ornaments depicting the deed to a platinum mine or a duplex.  Trust me, I spent days looking.  However, I am still very happy with how my tree turned out.  So happy in fact, that it moved me to create a Christmas list of my own.  Seeing that things are probably chaotic up in the North Pole due to the plight of global warming, I also included visual aids and links to where the products can be purchased to ensure accuracy and make it easier for the elves.

Dear Santa,

Since I would never do anything to jeopardize my future husband’s political career, I have been a very good girl this year.

Presenting My 2010 Christmas List:

1. iPad + Wi-Fi 3G: A tech diva always has to have to right accessories. They often includes sleek electronics.  Not only does an iPad go with any outfit, but AT&T’s 3G network gives you an automatic connection to Wi-Fi hotspots which is important for a blogger.

2.  Henri Bendel iPad Case: You are not a socialite until your accessories have accessories.  Therefore, it is vital that my iPad with 3G reside in a designer case.

2.  Burberry Rain Boots with Scarf to Match (Haymarket Check): With the impending royal wedding in Spring of 2011, British designers are going to be hot and I need to be prepared.  I have always been a fan of coordinated plaids. I really need this fashionable combination to get me through the rest of the winter.

4.  Coach Madison Clover Print Medium Wallet: Coach leatherwear has always been a signature of mine.  I really need a new wallet and this one is perfect.  Just be sure to include a matching bag of the same print.

5.  Tory Burch Tumbled Leather Reva Ballerina Flats (Every Color): Since my feet can’t seem to stomach heels on an everyday basis I have turned to flats.  Seeing that I am going to get a lot of use out of them, my new flats should be top of the line.  I also need variety because some days I feel like metallics, others are patent leather days, etc.  I also have a lot of outfits that require many different colors.  By the way, I am a size 7.

Merry Christmas!

Love,

Reese Witherspoon Looking Glamorous on the Cover of Glamour

Ever since her outstanding performances in the socialite classics, Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, Reese Witherspoon has held the coveted spot as my all-time favorite actress.  Her blonde hair and heartwarming smile make her not only, America’s Sweetheart, but a global icon.  Therefore, she is the perfect cover girl to ring in the New Year gracing the cover page of the January 2011 issue of Glamour.  Reese, looking red hot in a Burberry Prorsum dress that I totally want to snag for New Year’s Eve, told the magazine how her ambitions have changed since Legally Blonde, “My ambition has sort of broadened. I’m more interested in literature, art, public policy. And I’m really interested in doing more philanthropic endeavors.”  As an aspiring socialite, I feel that my ambitions have taken a similar turn since this blog went live in February 2010. Though party crashing and high fashion are still very much on the agenda, I also plan on using my social media power to promote social good with the addition of philanthropic endeavors I will be executing in 2011.  During my senior year of college when I prepared for change by making a change, I dyed my hair blonde inspired in part by the looks of Reese Witherspoon.  I have since dyed it back, but now, my favorite Hollywood star is inspiring me not to change my hair color, but to change the world.
