Dressing Like Glee’s Rachel Berry

A far cry from Lea Michele‘s stunning red carpet gowns, Rachel Berry’s semi-preppy style with a schoolgirl twist, has caused quite a stir on Glee.  The clean lines and youthful prints express her larger than life overachieving personality perfectly.  Though Lea Michele’s alter ego often gets made fun of for her unique style, I kind of dig it.  As homage to the greatly obnoxious Rachel Berry, I’ve put together a collection of must-haves for the inner high school diva in you:

1.  Marc by Marc Jacobs Quiet as a Mouse Flats:  With all her reindeer sweaters, there’s no way Rachel Berry could resist the urge to tip toe around in Marc Jacobs mouse flats.

2.  Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha Bag:  A chic sophisticated Marc Jacobs bag big enough to hold a wallet, sunglasses, and a cosmetics bag for last minute touch ups before singing on stage.

3.  Dearest Diarist Dress:  This angelic dress is great for a typical day at William Mckinley High School.

4.  ASOS Pleat Skirt in Neoprene:  This bright pleat skirt with a fitted waistband goes great with statement sweaters.

5.  kate spade new york Allover Argyle Tights:  Argyle is the ultimate preppy pattern.  Surely Rachel Berry would wear these tights in a second.

6.  Karaoke Revolution Glee:  Everyone needs to Gleek out once in a while to the tunes of the McKinley High Glee Club.

Lea Michele for Candie’s

So many spring lines so little time!  Today, Candie’s revealed that Glee‘s Lea Michele will be the official face of their spring 2012 campaign entitled “Hangin’ at Home.”  It will debut in March and feature Rachel Berry’s alter ego causing a stir in the kitchen, glamorously lounging by the pool and being playful in her bedroom.  As a top-notch performer, Lea Michele does an impeccable job modeling Candie’s affordable spring 2012 fashions available exclusively at Kohl’s department stores.

This may be my favorite Candie’s campaign/collection.  As a fellow singer, it’s no wonder that Lea’s favorite Candie’s alumna is Britney Spears.  I will absolutely be including some key Candie’s items in my Hampton’s/Central Park wardrobe for 2012.  In three words, I would describe this collection as colorful, bubblegum, and versatile.  Like Lea Michele herself, Candie’s spring 2012 just has so much personality.  Maybe I should learn to become a spokesperson?  It looks like fun and they probably let you keep the clothes.

Bangin’ Bangs!

In case you didn’t already know, I recently got bangs. I’ve been getting so many compliments on them both in person and on Facebook that I just had to do a post dedicated to my bangs. That’s me to the right of Kim Kardashian. It takes a very confident woman to place their picture among such beautiful celebrities with similar hairstyles. I’m not really that confident, I’m just crazy enough to do something like that and fascinated by how many celebrities are now sporting the same look I am.

It’s not that I copied them or that they copied me or anything.  It’s just now that I have bangs, I’ve been noticing how many celebrities also do and I feel more connected to them.  Kim K. and I both got bangs during the last week of 2011.  Which gives us a unique connection as bangs buddies.  I totally love Lea Michele’s bangs on Glee and last night my friend told me I looked like Leighton Meester when I introduced her to my new bangs.  I know they will grow out shortly and become a side bang, but they’re fun for now.

Some Serious Fashion at Glamour’s 21st Annual Women of the Year Awards

As NYC’s favorite Aspiring Socialite, I get invites to some of the most exclusive events. Since I still have a long way to go until I’m a household name outside of my own home, invites to Glamour‘s 21st Annual Women of the Year Awards earlier this week are still out of my reach which only gives me more to aspire to under the bright lights of Manhattan.  But, a girl can still dream and of course judge everyone on the red carpet.

Jessica Alba in this stunning black and white Tory Burch gets my vote for best-dressed. She looks so glamourous, yet relatable.  I can really see this becoming a classic.  Plus, I’m a huge fan of wearing head-to-toe black and white.  However, I also have to give notable mentions to Tory Burch herself, Emma Stone, and Lea Michele.  Jennifer Lopez killed in Versace as she further stunned everyone be taking a humble look at her incredible career.  Overall, this was one of the best-looking red carpets I’ve seen all year.  Aside from the breathtaking designer fashions worn by some of the most glamourous and accomplished women ever, one of Lea Michele’s quotes really stood out to me when she said, “Stand for something, or you’ll fall for everything.”  I may have no clue where my life is headed, but I stand firmly for self-improvement and obtaining the socialite lifestyle.

Left to right:

Emma Stone looking like a Greek Goddess in a green Lanvin. She should really wear this color more. It looks perfect with her red hair.

Esteemed fashion designer, Tory Burch, on the red carpet in her own adorable design.

The ultimate diva, Lea Michele, in a champagne colored Jenny Packman. Divas always need their sequins when off the set of Glee.

Help PETA & Lea Michele Put Horses Back in the Pasture

Horses in the carriage industry are treated badly and PETA wants to helpWhile walking the streets of my beloved city one evening, I spotted a billboard that captured my vision for a better world.  It was an angelic photo of my favorite Glee star, Lea Michele, fighting against the inhumane treatment of the animals and the horrors of the horse-drawn carriage industry.  Witnessing Lea Michele endorse PETA‘s latest campaign was music to my ears.  Inspired by this selfless action, I too urge people everywhere to boycott horse carriages in exchange for limos.

More attention needs to be brought to this ignored issue.  Horses do not belong in the confining traffic of NYC or in disgusting Midtown stables.  These beautiful animals belong somewhere out in the country on a socialite’s Long Island estate where they can roam free on green pastures.  It has always been my dream to make a difference by starring in my own PETA ad.  So I urge you to join PETA and Lea Michele in their cause to rid cities everywhere of this miserable and unnecessary industry.  You don’t have to be a Socialite or even an aspiring one; you just have to have a heart. For information on the issue and what you can do to make a difference visit NYCLASS.org or PETA.org.
