New York Fashion Week: Lounge Life!

New York Fashion Week ShopStyle

New York Fashion Week may look glamourous on Instagram (and in many ways it is), but for us bloggers, it can be a hectic week of back to back events and absolutely no sleep. Luckily, there’s a part of Fashion Week that’s exactly the opposite. In the New York Fashion Week lounges, coffee and champagne flow freely and you can relax with your BFFs (Best Fashion Friends). Talented hair and makeup artists are often on hand to help you look picture perfect in your street style photos and if you’re really lucky, you’ll be treated to some sweet swag such as makeup, handbags and jewelry. It’s every girl’s dream come true!

When you’re running around all day, lounge time is a must to recharge yourself and your cell phone. While many bloggers use their Fashion Week lounge time to get out posts in between shows, I like to make the most of the branded experiences and catch up with my blogger friends. If you didn’t have time to do your hair or get a manicure before the shows, a lounge can be a lifesaver. Maybe someday we can make New York Lounge Week a thing?

Here’s what my lounge life has been like so far this New York Fashion Week:

ShopStyle New York Fashion Week Lounge

I had an amazing time catching up with my blogger friends at the ShopStyle lounge! I even got this monogrammed GiGi New York purse. It’s the

R+Co Hair

Stylists from R+Co did an amazing job on my hair at the ShopStyle Lounge and taught me how to do modern curls.

The Maybelline Lounge on the top floor of Milk Studios was the perfect way to end the day. They had an awesome deejay and I got to stock up on my favorite Maybelline products.

TRESemmé and E! News New York Fashon Week

I walked on a virtual runway in the E! News and TRESemmé  Lounge at Skylight at Moynihan Station.

As for what I’m wearing, I’m in head to toe Express.  I’m wearing the Knit Moto Jacket in red and the Dome Bowler Bag also in red.

Winter Glamour in Central Park

Bebe Winter Fashion

There’s nothing more glamours than freshly fallen snow in Central Park.  Recently Winter Storm Jonas turned it into a magical winter destination clad in over two feet of snow. When walking through the park the day after the storm, I felt like I was vacationing at a ski resort in Aspen rather than strolling through Midtown Manhattan.

Seeing a beautiful snow-filled Central Park inspired me to put together an outfit worthy of the Aspen slopes. When I saw this Faux Fur Collar Ruana from Bebe I knew I had to have it!  I then paired it with my fav pair of Dark Mid Rise Skinny Jeans from Express, a basic Women’s Camis Best Loved Bra Cami also from Express and a pair of Cougar Boots. The purse is vintage. It was my Mom’s in the 70s.

The necklace is from Rocksbox, a subscription service where a stylist provides you with unlimited jewelry samples for $19 a month. You can buy the pieces you want just by holding onto them and send back what you don’t. It’s basically the Birchbox of jewelry.  Sign up using the code “aspiringsocialitexoxo” and you can get one month free. Renting jewelry is truly the way of the future.

I can’t wait for another big blizzard to hit!

Super Bowl Style

Super Bowl Sunday

Aside from all of the amazing yoga, barre, aerial yoga, etc. classes that I take almost daily with ClassPass, I’m really not a sporty person. I’ve never had that strong of an interest in watching or playing competitive sports. But when it comes to the Super Bowl, I really get into the game and even more the commercials.

Super Bowl Sunday is also the perfect excuse to reward myself for all those workouts by taking the day off to snack on delicious junk food. No matter what it is you love about the Super Bowl, both sports fans and fashionistas alike need a good game day outfit. For my Super Bowl 50 outfit, I combined this Oversized Sweatshirt from Zara with Rock & Republic Kashmiere Jeggings from Kohl’s and a Vera Bradley Preppy Poly NoSo Tote (Sky Blue) Satchel Handbag. I kind of feel like a high end soccer mom in this outfit. Love it!

P.S. – If you’re interested in joining ClassPass and getting unlimited classes, use my link and we can both save $20. Unlike a gym, there is no yearly commitment and you’ll get the chance to experience a bunch of different studios rather than just one. While classes are unlimited, you only get three per studio per month. It’s a great way to discover new styles of fitness and makes working out a lot more fun.

Sweater Weather!

Baby it’s cold outside! After months of glorious 60 degree days, we are finally feeling the freeze. For me cold days mean bright and warm sweaters paired with fab jeans and boots.

Nothing brightens up a cold day or a gray sky more than a fun and of course warm sweater. That being said, I’m totally obsessed with this Desigual Women’s Pullover. I paired it with a fab pair of ripped jeans from Almost Famous which are both super stylish and comfortable. These skinny jeans are similar. The bag is also from Desigual. Their San Francisco Neograb Shoulder Bag is also very similar. The most comfortable part of this entire outfit had to be the Old Navy Sueded Short Ankle Boots. I could wear them everyday.

Evil Eye Accessories

I’ve always been partial to jewelry and accessories with hidden meanings. That being said, I’ve long been fascinated by the allure of the evil eye.

evil eye jewelry

In many cultures, the evil eye is a curse believed to be caused by a malevolent glare cast when the person is unaware. In order to ward off the misfortune that can be caused by receiving the evil eye, good luck charms often known as Talismans were created to protect the wearer which also became known as evil eyes.

While I’ve never been to the parts of the Middle East or Europe where the iconic evil eyes are popular (it’s high on my bucket list), I have been brought back pieces featuring the blue evil eye from friends and family who have visited. Not only are they meant to bring protection and good luck, they also make incredibly fashionable statement accessories. Luckily, you don’t have to wait for a trip to Greece, Turkey, Albania, Egypt, Israel or Morocco to add a precious evil eye to your accessories collection or to give one as a gift. There are tons of great pieces you can order in preparation for that exotic vacation or just for fun. Here are some of my favs:
