Crazy About Pippa on TLC

Ever since that epic April morning when the world watched Will and Kate profess their love in the wedding of the century, everyone seems to have forgotten all about them.  Kate’s little sister Pippa Middleton became a role model for frumpy bridesmaids everywhere when she stole the show from her big sister in a snug Alexander McQueen.  Will and Kate may have earned the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but the media dubbed Pippa “Her Royal Hotness,” a title that I find to have bit more caliber.  Other titles that this royal in-law has received include Tatler Magazine’s number one society singleton.

This quite stylish fairy tale continues Aug. 9th on TLC with Crazy About Pippa, an hourlong special all about Britain’s most eligible bachelorette.  Aside from being incredibly stylish, dating hot British society boys, and sometimes going as P-Middy, who is Pippa Middleton really?  Well, seeing that my invite to the next British high society horserace must have gotten lost somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, I guess I will have to tune in Aug. 9th promptly at 9 p.m. to find out.

The Fabulous Life of Rebecca Bonbon, a French Bulldog in NYC

It’s no surprise to me that the ultimate socialite is a pint-sized dog living in a luxurious NYC penthouse overlooking Central Park. Straight from the marvelous mind of, the original Hello Kitty creator, comes Rebecca Bonbon, an adorable French Bulldog from Paris who is adopted by an American girl from New York. According to the legend, the two met in Paris when the girl was on vacation and quickly became BFFs after attending fashion week and shopping together on the Champs Elysees. While in the City of Lights, the pair also indulged in sweet French pastries and bonbons.  The American girl had so much fun with the pooch in Paris that she invited the beloved Rebecca Bonbon to come live in New York with her to continue their opulent adventures.  Before arriving in New York, the two made a stop in Japan.  In New York, they continued living the socialite dream with private jets, chauffeurs, picnics with friends, frolicking in Central Park, and of course bonbons.  The lovable Rebecca Bonbon is best known for her American Express Black Card that just happens to be unlimited allowing her to buy anything and everything at Chanel.  Would it be possible for this girl to adopt me?

The fact is that it’s lonely at the top.  Therefore, socialites always need a companion that fits in your seat in first class and loves you unconditionally.  Like Rebecca Bonbon, however, these puppies often grow up to become socialites themselves which only makes them understand you more.  As part of their back-to-school initiative, a Rebecca Bonbon line of tees and accessories will soon be available at Sears and Kmart.  Teen star, Jennette McCurdy, has been chosen to be the face of the line.  I hope I’m not too old to buy this stuff because I totally plan on it.

Is Harry Potter a Socialite?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ruled the box office socialite style over the weekend as the biggest movie opening ever. The film brought in $168.6 Million in the U.S. alone. In New York City, being a socialite is like having magical powers. At the drop of a hat, everything at Saks can be yours and the lines in front of the hottest clubs disappear seconds after your approach. Harry Potter may be able to cast a spell upon the box office, but is he socialite? And what other spellbound socialites have disapparated from the mysterious mind of J.K. Rowling?

Harry Potter is famous for being famous. His overnight fame came shortly after he was born. He also has a lot of gold guarded by goblins in Gringotts. Not to mention he went to boarding school in a castle. Like many famous socialites, Harry Potter lives his life in the public eye as the subject of both news and gossip. The paparazzi and crazed reporters such as Rita Skeeter are constantly following him. Though he may not aspire to socialite fame, Harry Potter is a socialite through and through. However, numerous other socialite characters exist in the wizarding world. The Malfoys have a manor and flaunt their socialite status by sitting with the Minster of Magic at the Quidditch World Cup. Bellatrix Lestrange may be one of the most evil witches that ever lived, but shopping with her could be an elegantly bewitching experience, kind of like shopping with Blair Waldorf. Having grown up with Harry Potter, I’m sad that this marks the end of an era, but it was a great way to end it.

Who to Aspire to Be and When

I am a strong believer in the complexity of people. It is next to impossible to describe anyone in three words because from second to second we are a million different people. Unlike the average person who lives their life in the norm, socialites and celebrities show their many sides in the public eye. In every aspect of your socialite life, you should be the best of the best.

Here I give you every Aspiring Socialite’s guide to which socialites/celebrities to emulate and in what situation.

On the party scene: Though she is so much more, Paris Hilton is the ultimate party girl who knows how to get photographed at every A-list event.  Instead of cocktails, this heiress likes to down red bulls to keep up her energy late into the night.

When meeting your boyfriend’s parents: Known as America’s Sweetheart, Reese Witherspoon is the potential daughter-in-law every parent dreams about.  In fact, I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t love Reese Witherspoon or doesn’t want to be her best friend.

When launching your line: Kim Kardashian along with the rest of the Kardashian Klan have business ventures worth millions.  Their empire stretches from fashion, to fragrances, to reality TV, magazine covers, and much more.  So when it comes to being a businesswoman, take a hint from the Kardashians.

On an interview: Weather you are on a job interview or being interviewed by the ladies of The View, you need the royal presence and poise of Kate Middleton.  The Duchess of Cambridge may also be a great person to imitate on the catwalk.  Not only is she a fashion icon, but everyone knows she landed her prince while modeling a sheer number in a charity fashion show back at St. Andrews.

Though it is always important to make your own path and not focus on becoming like one person alone, mixing the best qualities of the rich and famous into one can be your one way ticket to high society.

Young Hollywood Up and Comer: Alexandra DiNovi

While New York is a city of aspiring socialites, Los Angeles is one of aspiring actors.  But, why not have the best of both worlds?  After all, both socialites and actors need headshots.  I have recently become Twitter pals with the incredibly talented, Alexandra DiNovi, a Beverly Hills-based socialite and actress.  Aside from throwing huge over the top parties in Beverly Hills on Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day for hundreds of her nearest and dearest and cruising about town with BFF, Jaimie Hilfiger, Alexandra DiNovi won Best Actress at the 2010 New York International Film Festival for her leading role in Purity, A Dark Film.  She has been known to attend red carpet and private social events in L.A. on a regular basis.

Originally from Hinsdale, Illinois, this red carpet mogul was discovered in a restaurant while she was in high school.  Like many great actresses with a dream, Alexandra made the move to sunny Los Angeles to study Theatre, Communications, and Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University.  Alexandra DiNovi is a face you are going to want to watch.  I see great things for her and am looking forward to partying it up socialite style with her next time she is in NYC.  As aspiring up in comers, we have a lot in common.  You can also catch Lexi on the radio/TV show she hosts known as Late Nights with Lexi. Many thanks to Lexi for being a fabulous actress, socialite, fashionista, and friend.  Best of luck in all you do.
