A Royal Baby Welcome!

JAPAN-BRITAIN-ROYALS-BABY

The Royal Baby Watch has ended! Though we still haven’t heard the official name of Baby Boy Windsor, it’s time everyone’s favorite royal couple had a moment of rest. Having blogged about the Royal Wedding more than two years ago, I’m so happy to see that the happy couple has given birth to a healthy baby boy who has absolutely no idea what’s in store for him. Since I’m sending my heartfelt congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge from New York, I’ll be celebrating this momentous occasion the NYC way by shopping for a commemorative accessory to add to my wardrobe.

Marshalls Spring Preview With Maria Menounos

DSC01481

I don’t need to tell you that the secret behind every designer clad Aspiring Socialite is Marshalls. But, even if I had a billion dollars, I would still spend my free time shopping designer deals there. I get so much satisfaction out of finding this season’s top fashions for literally a fraction of the price. When I went to their spring preview featuring Maria Menounos and her top spring picks, I discovered that she felt the same. Even fame and fortune couldn’t keep her away from Marshalls’ designer deals.

As she pointed out her favorite spring pieces, Maria told us about how she’d been a Marshalls customer from a young age. As a child, her parents instilled the value of a dollar and presenting yourself well by always dressing your best. So shopping at Marshalls played a huge role in who Maria is today. I must say that I was raised the same way. Like the famous Maria Menounos, I’d rather walk out of Marshalls with six bags full of the latest styles than get three things at an expensive boutique. I love the pieces she picked as her favorites for spring. She clearly has an affinity for belted lace dresses which are incredibly flattering. Sorry for the photo overload. I got so many great shots last night that I wanted to put them all up.

Kelly Bensimon on Her New Book “I Can Make You Hot!” & Being a Socialite

On my path to being a member of the upper crust, there’s nothing more inspiring than meeting and getting advice from actual socialites living the dream.  At a recent meet and greet with former Real Housewife of New York, Kelly Bensimon, celebrating her new diet and lifestyle book, I Can Make You Hot!, the insight I gained on living a healthy and happy socialite life was impeccable. In the book, the model and mother of two reveals how real models eat, live, and keep their bodies beautiful with healthy foods, sleep, and exercise.  Basically, treat your body right and it will love you back.

This philosophy makes I Can Make You Hot! one of the most optimistic diet books on the market showing the world that skinny people don’t starve themselves, they just eat the right things and make an effort to always treat their bodies like gold.  There’s even room to splurge.  For Kelly, Sunday is the “Day of Rest” where she is free to eat whatever she desires.  When I asked Kelly about being a vegetarian, she suggested I start eating meat again because lean proteins are an important part of a diet that promotes weight loss.  Though I know I should be eating a better variety of foods, I’m not sure if I’m quite ready yet to add meat into the mix.  But, if a supermodel says it will make me hot, I might consider it.

To win a signed copy of I Can Make You Hot! by the lovely Kelly Killoren Bensimon, comment on this post with the name of your favorite food.   The winner will be chosen at random and contacted by email.

“If you want to be a socialite, do what you love and always wear high heels,” – Wise words from Kelly Bensimon on achieving the socialite life.

Blue Ivy Carter & Other Socialite Baby Names

Unless you’ve been living on Mars or are currently incarcerated in solitary confinement, you know that Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed a baby girl into the world over the weekend named Blue Ivy Carter. I’m so happy for them and I can’t wait to finally see the pictures they’ve been hiding from us. Blue Ivy certainly is a unique name. Celebrity children are some of the most unique people ever. So it’s no wonder they get crazy names like Apple, Harlow, Phinneaus, and Honor Marie. Though I’m not looking to have kids anytime soon, the birth of Blue Ivy Carter has got me thinking about what I will someday name my future socialite children.

Now, I know you’re not supposed to reveal your baby names after Charlotte from Sex and the City got the name Shayla stolen from under her, but seeing that I love and trust all of you so much, I’m going to share my dream baby names with you.  I was named after Queen Victoria (my mom was a huge fan of the Victoria Era;) so I really like the idea of doing something off of that so I’m going to name my first daughter London. It goes along with the whole British theme. If I have another daughter, I would like to name her Karma. This will make my family dynamic a perfect mix of east and west.

As for the boys, I like the names Conor and Holden. Conor was supposedly going to be my name had I been a boy. My dad was inspired by the Trinity protagonist, Conor Larkin. I also love the name Holden after Holden Caulfield from J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye because I also hate it when people are phony and I’m artsy enough to name a child after that character.  Seeing that I only want to have two children, I won’t be able to use all these names, but it’s fun to think about.  I know it’s only a matter of time before I have a little Suri Cruise of my own, but like I said before, it’s going to be years before that happens.  Just to clarify and avoid rumors, I am by no means pregnant.

Bangin’ Bangs!

In case you didn’t already know, I recently got bangs. I’ve been getting so many compliments on them both in person and on Facebook that I just had to do a post dedicated to my bangs. That’s me to the right of Kim Kardashian. It takes a very confident woman to place their picture among such beautiful celebrities with similar hairstyles. I’m not really that confident, I’m just crazy enough to do something like that and fascinated by how many celebrities are now sporting the same look I am.

It’s not that I copied them or that they copied me or anything.  It’s just now that I have bangs, I’ve been noticing how many celebrities also do and I feel more connected to them.  Kim K. and I both got bangs during the last week of 2011.  Which gives us a unique connection as bangs buddies.  I totally love Lea Michele’s bangs on Glee and last night my friend told me I looked like Leighton Meester when I introduced her to my new bangs.  I know they will grow out shortly and become a side bang, but they’re fun for now.
