The start of summer is the perfect time to brighten up your beauty routine. Be sure to start with a smooth foundation paired with perfectly shaped brows for a fresh summer look. Thanks to Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Face Wax Strips you can achieve that polished salon shape without the hassle of having to make an appointment or paying salon prices. Nair has an excellent selection of depilatory and wax products to give you perfectly smooth skin.

The new Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Face Wax Strips with Perfect Temp™ technology added to the popular Brazilian Spa Clay line are infused with mango butter and açai berry, known to moisturize the skin, and mineral-rich clay known to purify the skin. The new wax strips take the guesswork out of waxing at home with the Perfect Temp™ technology. Each wax strip contains the Nair logo embossed across the strip. The wax strips are heated by hand and when the logo fades across the entire strip, you apply it to your skin. You can’t overheat it, so there is no risk that the wax will burn you. Results last up to 8 weeks!

Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Face Wax Strips

Though I love a good salon wax, I’ve long been a fan of waxing at home, especially for those much-needed touch-ups in between appointments. Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Face Wax Strips with Perfect Temp technology provide superior results at home at a fraction of the salon price. In just two steps you can remove hair and moisturize skin for a smooth finish. It retails for only $5.99 which is a small fraction of the salon price.

Want the perfect look this summer? Check out these flawless Summer Makeup Tips from celebrity makeup artist, Ashunta Sheriff:

1. Less is More

A picture perfect look starts with a smooth foundation. Achieve a fresh, clean look this summer with Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Total Care Face Trio, the only 3-step depilatory for your face. Also try lightening your makeup regimen with SPF foundation primer and a tinted moisturizer. Tinted moisturizer will give you a sheer finish, while still having the option of layering with another coat for medium coverage. It’s best to apply with a foundation brush for a smooth result.

2. Get the Perfect Brows

To find the perfect brow shape, hold a ruler parallel to your nose, and level with the inner corner of your eye to determine where the brow should begin. If your eyes are close together, make the gap between the brows wider, and vice versa if your eyes are further apart.

Get salon quality results at home with Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Face Wax Strips with Perfect Temp™ technology. My favorite part about the wax strips is that they can be cut to create the perfect brow shape. Apply thinly cut strips above, below, and at the start of the brow in a triangle to achieve the perfect look.

3. Make Your Eyes Pop

This summer, incorporate colored eye liner into your makeup kit. Apply two coats along your lower lash line to make your eyes pop. Select colors that complement your eyes. For example, if you have brown eyes, use purple eyeliner to make your eyes stand out.

4. Get Great Lashes

In three simple steps your lashes will have volume, life, and separation for a truly memorable look. Using your favorite mascara, start by applying it the traditional way from the base upward, or “uptown.” Next, apply mascara “downtown” to the top of lashes curling the lash down then up. Finish with a “crosstown” by wiggling the wand from side to side as if you are teasing and separating the lashes.

5. Waterproof Everything

Prepare for summer showers and heat by switching to waterproof formulas for your mascara, eye liner, lip liner, and cream eye colors. Always set makeup with waterproof finishing spray to ensure you look great all day!

A Summer Afternoon in Bryant Park

Every girl needs her alone time. So this afternoon I had a quiet lunch on my own on a warm not too humid day in Bryant Park. Like Central Park it is truly a magical place. After all, it was the site of New York Fashion Week for many years. Lincoln Center is an excellent home for Fashion Week, but I miss Bryant Park’s more “tenty” appeal. The carousel reminds me of J. D. Salinger’s 1951 novel, The Catcher in the Rye. Someday I’d like to ride Bryant Park’s carousel and recapture my childhood in a fab fashion photo shoot. However, the chances of that happening are slim to none because it’s usually surrounded by kids and their nannies. So it seems I may be out of luck.

At the other end of the park is a lovely fountain overlooking Sixth Ave. During the summer, they show movies every Monday night at sunset hence the screen in back of the fountain. When I had to go back to work, I contemplated staying much longer because in Bryant Park, the grass is always greener.

The Haute Life in a Hammock

A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I’ve always wanted a hammock or as you would say in Spanish “Una Maca.”  It’s not a secret or anything, it just doesn’t usually come up.  Some of my greatest naps as a child were spent on hammocks either on the beaches of Venezuela or in the woods of Maine.  I’m an Irish/Latina hence the polar opposite choices of vacation destinations.  My background has really made me the well-rounded person I am today.  However, I’m hoping that someday owning a hammock of my own will make me a well-rested person for once.

There’s just nothing like lying in a hammock on a warm day listening to the sounds of nature as it swings back and forth slightly.  I have truly never experienced anything so relaxing.  Really the only thing getting in my way of owning a hammock is the lack of space in my apartment.  I guess I’ll just have to wait for the day when I have a backyard again or an apartment with a terrace to make this much needed addition to my life.  But, that doesn’t mean I can’t start shopping.

Here are my top hammock picks for my future socialite residence:

What to Wear this Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is this weekend and chances are you will be kicking off summer 2012 at an outdoor party somewhere.  I usually save the red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July, but you can totally go the patriotic route if you’d like.  Here are two fab Memorial Day looks that just may make this weekend your most fashionable three-day weekend yet:

1.  Theme Ready or Nautical Dress: This sea breeze dress is the perfect summer ensemble that’s bound to flatter your figure while paying homage to summers of the shores of Maine.

2.  Butter London Lippy Trout Pout: A girl’s got to have her gloss!

3.  Sperry Top-Sider Milly Authentic Original Platform Pumps: These shoes are by far the star of this outfit.  Inspired by the classic deck shoe, you’ll be getting compliments on these shoes where you go.

4.  DVF Alexandra Oversized Sunglasses: Nicole Richie and her oversized sunglasses went from hot mess to just plain hot.  These are in honor of her and her journey.

5.  Citrine by the Stones Hemp Bracelet: An awesome touch to the navy blue nautical theme.

1.  Foley & Corinna Mid City Fuchsia: A simple pink bag for your not so simple life.

2.  Forever 21 Colorful Geo Bracelet: Love this Missoni-inspired bangle.

3.  DV by Dolce Vita Archer Hot Pink: Cute and comfortable!

4.  TOPSHOP Big Bird Playsuit: Playsuits are so in for the summer because they’re super fun.

5.  ASOS Articulated Colored Triangle Collar Necklace: Colorful like the summer sunset.

6.  Banana Boat Sport Performance Sunscreen SPF 30 Lotion: Sunscreen is always your best accessory.  I don’t want any of my socialite fans getting sunburned so always apply and reapply.

Planning Your Next Cabana Party

It seems that you always want what you can’t have. So what a better time to plan your next summer gathering in your friendly neighborhood cabana than in the dead of winter? Having a party in a cabana is outdoor living at its best, especially if you happen to be by a pool or the ocean. The first thing to remember about cabana living, is that just because you are participating in outdoor entertaining, doesn’t mean that furniture, flooring, and decorations aren’t at a premium. Think about setting up your cabana like setting up a high-end tent to go couture camping. You’ll need at least a large outdoor table with chairs for your guests to sit. If you really want to take your seating area one step further, you can experiment with pillows and couches.

During the evening, an outdoor fireplace or fire pit is always a nice touch and can serve as a means to keep away mosquitoes. For more light and protection from those pesky mosquitoes, you can also make a trail to your cabana using bamboo torches. Keep your guests cool in the summer heat with lots of water, lemonade, and exotic beverages. Lastly, remember to serve food. It’s tempting to get caught up in planning for and decorating your cabana, but your party is going to be so great that people will want to stay all day and they are bound to get hungry. I recommend ordering a few platters of finger sandwiches and storing them in your inside refrigerator until they are all ready for serving. Now, all you have to do is wait until summer.
