A Summer Afternoon in Bryant Park

Every girl needs her alone time. So this afternoon I had a quiet lunch on my own on a warm not too humid day in Bryant Park. Like Central Park it is truly a magical place. After all, it was the site of New York Fashion Week for many years. Lincoln Center is an excellent home for Fashion Week, but I miss Bryant Park’s more “tenty” appeal. The carousel reminds me of J. D. Salinger’s 1951 novel, The Catcher in the Rye. Someday I’d like to ride Bryant Park’s carousel and recapture my childhood in a fab fashion photo shoot. However, the chances of that happening are slim to none because it’s usually surrounded by kids and their nannies. So it seems I may be out of luck.

At the other end of the park is a lovely fountain overlooking Sixth Ave. During the summer, they show movies every Monday night at sunset hence the screen in back of the fountain. When I had to go back to work, I contemplated staying much longer because in Bryant Park, the grass is always greener.
