This spring season is one of fashion extremes. While black and white combinations are all the rage, so are bright sorbet colors on the opposite side of the spectrum. Happy Easter Socialites! It’s been a beautiful spring weekend in New York City. I throughly enjoyed walking across town on Saturday in the newly emerged sunshine. After seeing the Empire State Building lit up like an Easter egg all weekend with pretty pastels for spring, I was inspired to curate my favorite pastel spring fashions.
As a creative way to promote their spring 2013 line, French Connection is bringing out the Lena Dunham in all of us with their Make A Scene initiative. Now, fashionistas and amateur filmmakers alike can put together scenes from French Connection’s Spring 2013 campaign choosing the perfect beginning, middle, and end. Users can also add special effects and select a soundtrack to add a personal touch. Once the 60 second video is complete, all participants are then asked to share their finished film with as many people as possible through social media. The film with the most shares will win an incredible all-expense paid trip to the Sydney 2013 Film Festival in June. Runner up prizes include $500 and $1,000 shopping sprees.
I had a blast making my directorial debut with the short film entitled After Afternoon Tea. It’s a story told in reverse taking the viewer back in time with the first scene being the last and the last scene displaying what occurred at the very beginning. I guess that’s my film style. I wanted to bring out the sinister side of the privileged life so I played dark music in the background to give the audience a feeling that something out of the ordinary is about to happen in paradise. I don’t need to tell you that the secret behind every designer clad Aspiring Socialite is Marshalls. But, even if I had a billion dollars, I would still spend my free time shopping designer deals there. I get so much satisfaction out of finding this season’s top fashions for literally a fraction of the price. When I went to their spring preview featuring Maria Menounos and her top spring picks, I discovered that she felt the same. Even fame and fortune couldn’t keep her away from Marshalls’ designer deals.
As she pointed out her favorite spring pieces, Maria told us about how she’d been a Marshalls customer from a young age. As a child, her parents instilled the value of a dollar and presenting yourself well by always dressing your best. So shopping at Marshalls played a huge role in who Maria is today. I must say that I was raised the same way. Like the famous Maria Menounos, I’d rather walk out of Marshalls with six bags full of the latest styles than get three things at an expensive boutique. I love the pieces she picked as her favorites for spring. She clearly has an affinity for belted lace dresses which are incredibly flattering. Sorry for the photo overload. I got so many great shots last night that I wanted to put them all up.
I recently stopped by the kensie showroom to eat cupcakes, drink champagne, and of course preview their spring jewelry line. I loved all the beautiful neons and and elegant Rooftop Party Caseline styles for spring. My favorite pieces were the bangle bracelets with inspiring sayings such as kensie’s signature motto “Tell me something pretty.”
