Kensie Jewelry Holiday 2013 Preview

kensie-jewelry

Jewelry always makes the perfect gift. Speaking of gifts, there’s nothing like Christmas in (almost) July! Since in fashion it’s our job to stay at least six months ahead, my calendar is quickly filling up with holiday preview events. This week, I previewed Kensie’s Holiday 2013 jewelry line. The bold colors and dainty gold pieces make both excellent gifts and stunning holiday party accessories.

Golden Girls of the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival

gold-jewelryAs the weather warms up, the world is reminded that it is that time of year again when the Hollywood elite are transported to the French Riviera for decadent parties, exclusive events, and copious amounts of movie watching, otherwise known as the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival. In typical French manner, fashion was at the forefront of the scene and one particular gilded guardian stole the spotlight. From glistening lemon hues to sunshine yellows, gold jewelry become Cannes’ simplest yet most luxurious style statement.

Naomi Watts and Sharon Stone were just a few fashionistas to be spotted wearing gold throughout the festival.  At LoveGold’s Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show, Anna Dello Russo wore a gold Bulgari necklace that complemented the charm of her flamenco inspired skirt. So take a fresh step this summer, say goodbye to the shiny silver counterparts, and go bold with gold.

Statement Necklaces Under $50

Statement-Necklace-Jewelry

Lately, I’ve been feeling like something is missing from my wardrobe and I soon realized it was a supply of statement necklaces.  Statement jewelry is not only all the rage, they’re also a great wardrobe investment that can add a personal flare to any outfit.  But, they don’t have to be an investment at all.  Though many dazzling statement pieces retail in the $400-$600 range, there are plenty of adorable statement pieces for under $50 and even as low as under $20.  They’re perfect to wear to a job interview or important meeting as a stylish way to be remembered.  Here are some of my favorite statement necklaces all for under $50:

1. Pink & Orange Stone Charm Statement Necklace ($16.00) 2. 2b Store Cinderella Statement Necklace ($16.95) 3. Natasha Faceted Round Statement Necklace ($38.00) 4. ASOS Spring Stone Necklace ($42.39) 5. Sabine Flower Cabachon Statement Necklace on Piperlime ($42.00) 6. Alfani Gold-Tone Glass Teardrop Statement Necklace ($18.99)

GM by Giuliana Michelotti Jewelry Trunk Show & Preview

Designer-Jewelry-Trunk-Show

Giuliana Michelotti, recently held a press preview and trunk show for her GM by Giuliana Michelotti line she began in 1995 after having designed fashions and jewelry for top fashion houses such as Valentino, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Lacroix.  The entire collection is cast in silver using an ancient jewelry making technique native to India known as the “Lost Wax” technique.  Though the pieces appear to be heavy, they are actually incredibly light since they are filled with wax instead of solid metal.  Using uncut stones naturally worn by rain and sand, Michelotti creates one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets, and earrings each with an unmistakable personality and individuality.  This is absolutely one of the most unique collections I’ve seen in a long time.

Trend Alert: Mid Knuckle Rings

Screen shot 2013-03-05 at 8.21.54 PM

It may not feel like it, but spring is just around the corner and the trends are beginning to bloom. One trend I’ve recently spotted are Mid Knuckle or Above the Knuckle Rings. Though these rings are interesting, I’m not sure how I feel about this new jewelry trend. Sure they’re unique and can compliment your pastel spring nail polish, but wearing rings above your knuckles can also look awkward and uncomfortable. In other words, I’m kind of in a hot or not debate over the mid knuckle ring trend. So I want to hear your opinion.  Let me know what you think of this new spring accessory in the comment section.  If you like what you see, you can find the above rings on MissKL, Etsy, and Planet Blue.  Happy Commenting!
