The Gaga’s Workshop Experience at Barneys New York

Like any great Aspiring Socialite in New York, I have a “Bad Romance” kind of relationship with Barneys New York. I love that store, but it often kills my credit card statement to the point where I have to call home crying.  Today, I had the best time at Gaga’s Workshop, a section of the store set up for the season that’s basically like entering the mind of Lady Gaga.  The setup is based on her many elaborate costumes and album highlights.

I was like a kid in a candy store running around taking pictures, hugging the little monsters, pretending to sip tea from the tea cups, and enjoying all the bright colors.  Both holiday songs and Lady Gaga hits blasted as everyone took in this unique experience of holiday joy.  The best part is that Barneys will be donating 25% of the Gaga’s Workshop proceeds to the Born This Way Foundation. Can this workshop stay at Barneys forever? It’s a great place to go whenever you need a Gaga fix or to lift your spirits. However, I have to warn you. Being Lady Gaga is very expensive.

All the Stuff You Want This Holiday That You Didn’t Know You Needed

Between finding the perfect holiday party outfit, buying cute Christmas ornaments, and styling my entire family in the hottest winter wear, I absolutely love holiday shopping.  Call my spending habits frivolous, but they make me and everyone on my gift list very happy. In light of the less than socialite economy, I’m selecting gifts this year that are cute and funny.

Here are my top 5 favorites that are bound to up the cuteness for the 2011 Holidays:

1. kate spade “Spike the Punch” Shirt: The perfect thing to wear to a casual holiday party that is bound to show your style and sense of humor all while keeping with the happy spirit of the holidays.

2. Starbucks Tree Ornament: My love for coffee/caffeine deserves a place of honor high upon my Christmas tree.

3. Angry Birds Hat: My mom will kill me if I don’t get her one of these this year.

4. Christopher Radko Michael Kors Ball: Every socialite needs a designer Christmas tree complete with couture ornaments.

5. Fairisle Ear Muff Headphones: The moment I saw these awesome warm headphones at Juicy Couture, I had to have them. When I walk around the city in the bitter cold zoning out to Glee songs on my iPod, I like to do so stylishly.

Socialite Hint: You can support the economy and your sanity by getting your Christmas shopping done early.

Christmas Eve by Bergdorf Goodman

Since the moment I saw this collectors worthy Bergdorf Goodman Snow Globe from the Franz Collection, I knew it was something every Aspiring Socialite should have on her mantel atop a rolling fire.  Showing a scenic view of the Bergdorf Goodman storefront in the winter of another time, this piece evokes thoughts of family and friends bearing holiday greetings.  Not to mention the millions of deals to be found during the after Christmas sales bound to take place inside that very department store beginning December 26.

Sometimes beauty and luxury can be found in the simple details such as the flicker of a light or the care you took in wrapping that special gift.  I know it’s not Thanksgiving, but before you unwrap your gifts, take a moment to admire your tree and be thankful for what you do have.  Take a break for a while, but, come New Year’s Eve remember to pick up where you left off in your socialite aspirations.  For 2011 holds far more of high society to conquer.  For example, I strongly admire the fine detail the artists at Bergdorf Goodman put into their holiday window displays centered around the theme of travel.
