Socialite Summer Style

While summer is traditionally the time to make a much-needed pilgrimage to the Hamptons or the Jersey Shore, sometimes the most relaxing weekend plans are no plans at all. I’ve grown to love my relaxing unscheduled summer weekends in the city. This past weekend, I went to Roosevelt Island for the first time and fell in love with the wildflowers.

Socialite Summer Style

I’m wearing my casual summer uniform which consists of a Linen-Cotton Original Fit Shirt from Express paired with Dark Wash Denim Shorts. I absolutely love how light and airy this blue button up is for summer. I refuse to go anywhere without my purple Longchamp ‘Small Le Pliage’ Tote. My belt is from C4 Belts. I custom designed it from their incredible selection of colors and patterns. Being me, of course I picked the preppiest design, but you can pick one that best fits your personality. To top it off, I’m wearing my fav Juicy Couture sunglasses that I got back in 2009. I originally bought them because I loved Nicole Richie’s big sunglasses look and they fit my face perfectly.

A Perfect Match

I’m not one of those people that always has their shoes matched perfectly to their bag. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but a perfect match isn’t that big of a priority for me on most days.  However, there are some items (often from different stores and designers) that go so well together that you can’t help, but smile when you see them in outfit form. After finding a couple perfect matches during one of my many late nights of online shopping, I knew I needed to show them off.  When it comes to love, there may not be that many perfect matches, but in fashion, it gives me some piece of mind to know that the combinations are endless.

Sizzling Summer Looks & Accessories!

Summer 2012 is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited!  As much as I love the warm weather, I love living in a land of four seasons because the change in weather always marks a new beginning.  Plus, it’s always a blast to buy new pieces for your wardrobe and rediscover old seasonal styles that have been in hiding in the back of your closet for the past six months.

Here are some of my favorite summer picks for the 2012 season:

Favorite Swimsuits:

1.  Kenneth Cole Reaction Adjustable Printed Brief Shorts Swimsuit: A far cry from the string bikini, this year’s swimsuits are reminiscent of the 60s and far more conservative.  In a year where major stars have been seen wearing long sleeves on the red carpet, women are finding that they ironically feel sexier when they are a little more covered up.

2.  Kenneth Cole Reaction Ruffled Skirted Swimsuit:  I’ve always wanted a skirted swimsuit, but have yet to own one.  I’m pretty obsessed with this one.  Not only are the color and the ruffles adorable, it acts as both a swimsuit and beach coverup in one.

3.  Kenneth Cole New York Swimsuit, Animal Printed Foldover:  Can you tell I’m a bit partial to Kenneth Cole swimwear this season?

All the Stuff You Want This Holiday That You Didn’t Know You Needed

Between finding the perfect holiday party outfit, buying cute Christmas ornaments, and styling my entire family in the hottest winter wear, I absolutely love holiday shopping.  Call my spending habits frivolous, but they make me and everyone on my gift list very happy. In light of the less than socialite economy, I’m selecting gifts this year that are cute and funny.

Here are my top 5 favorites that are bound to up the cuteness for the 2011 Holidays:

1. kate spade “Spike the Punch” Shirt: The perfect thing to wear to a casual holiday party that is bound to show your style and sense of humor all while keeping with the happy spirit of the holidays.

2. Starbucks Tree Ornament: My love for coffee/caffeine deserves a place of honor high upon my Christmas tree.

3. Angry Birds Hat: My mom will kill me if I don’t get her one of these this year.

4. Christopher Radko Michael Kors Ball: Every socialite needs a designer Christmas tree complete with couture ornaments.

5. Fairisle Ear Muff Headphones: The moment I saw these awesome warm headphones at Juicy Couture, I had to have them. When I walk around the city in the bitter cold zoning out to Glee songs on my iPod, I like to do so stylishly.

Socialite Hint: You can support the economy and your sanity by getting your Christmas shopping done early.

I’ll be making a Splash at the Juicy Pool Party!

Too much drama has found me this week over fake designer bags and other scandalous issues. The week’s not even over and I’m already in dire need of a long getaway to a deserted island somewhere in the South Pacific. In the end, no one becomes a socialite to live the soap opera life, but to have the luxury of watching one everyday at 3 p.m. directly after an afternoon nap. Any aspiring socialite must also be a dreamer. As a writer and creator of great things, I am obviously no exception. During the summer months, I spend my weekend afternoons on the Central Park green just a few steps away from Strawberry Fields and the penthouses of Central Park West.

Every weekend afternoon, the green is filled with bikini clad dreamers, myself included, simulating a beach weekend far away from the skyscrapers of Manhattan. This Saturday, June 26th from 12-4 p.m. I will be attending the “Stuck in the City” pool party at Juicy Couture on 5th and 52nd. Though I fully intend on getting my free tote with a purchase of $175 or more, I do not believe I am actually supposed to wear a bathing suit to this event. Although with the awesome outrageousness of the Juicy brand, you never know. Anyway, I’m so excited for another weekend of summer dreams in NYC. For you lucky few spending the weekend in East Hampton, there is also a pool party for you a lot closer to the beach. Hope to see you there along with the summer treats and Juicy Boys.
