Experience the Classic Custom Designs of Lauren Gabrielson

As an Aspiring Socialite, I can truly relate to young up-in-coming designers.   Lauren Gabrielson, is a hot young designer and entrepreneur who has hit the scene with some of the classiest Blake Lively style outfits on the market.  The 23-year-old who opened her first store in Sag Harbor in the summer of 2010 has created some of the most incredibly sophisticated designs destined to hit the red carpet.  Gabrielson’s line is centered on fabric quality.   Since everything is designed and produced in New York, the quality is the best of the best and supports the local economy.

As a designer who understands that no two socialites are alike or want to be seen wearing the same outfit which could result in a disaster, custom-made outfits are also available with short two week turnover.   I highly recommend looking into her for custom bridesmaid dresses.   Her clothes are so flattering and classic that your friends will love you for it.   Though being a bridezilla is a natural reaction to wanting a perfect wedding day, I have no patience for brides who are insecure enough to purposely make their bridesmaids look bad.   Watch out for Lauren Gabrielson because her signature Layered Chiffon Dress is said to become as iconic as “the wrap.”  This classic design both accentuates and adds a slimming effect to the waistline making it a must-have.   Other style dresses include adorable 60s and 20s inspired designs along with the incredibly figure flattering Juliet Dress which looked impeccable on Real Housewife of New York, Bethenny Frankel.

Want more of Lauren Gabrielson?  For a custom made outfit, make an appointment to visit her showroom on Madison Ave. For fab off the rack merchandise visit her world class boutique downtown on Mott St. You can also follow her on Facebook and Twitter.

Anna Dello Russo is INC Editor at Large for Macy’s

Wednesday night I ventured downtown to the Macy’s INC Editor at Large Anna Dello Russo event attended by models and fashionistas alike featuring bright colors for fall and a pink carpet. Anna Dello Russo or ADR as she is better known in  fashion circles, is the editor at large for Vogue Japan.  There is no doubt that ADR has certainly impacted the INC brand with her fashion expertise.  As seen in Karl Lagerfeld‘s Macy’s line, the collection is filled with bright colors on black.  The same pink on black color scheme is also prominent with ADR’s INC vision which includes a slew of red and yellow cropped peacoats, color-blocked tunics, and a cropped red fur chubby which I hope isn’t actually real fur.

According to this campaign big hair also may be coming back this fall.  If you want more of this line, both Anna Della Russo and Karolina Kurkova will be making personal appearances at Macy’s Herald Square during Fashions Night Out on Sept. 8th, where they will mingleling with consumers and talking all things style.

Frances Bean Cobain Rocks the Fashion World in a Stunning Black and White Shoot

I was once told by a creative writing professor in my junior year of college that if my stories were movies, they would all be in black and white never in color. In a way, I guess that is how I see the world. When I came across this black and white photo series of Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of the late Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and the notorious Courtney Love, taken by famed Dior photographer, Hedi Slimane, I was immediately drawn to them. If she doesn’t already have one already (which I suspect she probably does,) someone get this girl an agent. Apart from inheriting her father’s hauntingly beautiful blue eyes, Frances has grown into a beautiful young model with a style all her own. I am seeing a national ad campaign in her future.

Everyone wants to see more of this intense beauty who seems to be one of the most mature 19-year-olds I have never met. Though the repressed red carpet socialite in me has spent her most recent years following and glorifying the limelight, it is often those who avoid fame at all costs that receive the most notoriety. According to The New York Times, both Cobain and Slimane declined to be interviewed claiming that the photos were taken privately at Frances’ request and there are no plans as of now to publish the series in print. I guess being elusive only makes you more exclusive. Perhaps, I should take a few hints from Miss Cobain. After all, I do look cute in black and white and could use a cult following.

Missoni For Target Look Book Released!

If it’s wrong for socialites to like Target, I don’t want to be right. Their clothes are actually high quality and I have gotten some of my best (and cheapest) bathing suits there. So when Target releases a new designer line, it is always a happy day for me.  What can I say?  Sometimes all a girl needs is something cheap-chic.  Pictures from the much anticipated Missoni For Target line have finally hit the web. This look book release came after Margherita Maccapani Missoni herself sent some sneak peaks over to Marina from the blog all the way here. According to The Budget Babe, Marina has been hired to model Target’s Missoni line.

Aside from the incredibly brightly colored textile knits that have become a signature of this line, Missoni for Target offers everything from children’s clothes, to luggage, dishes, menswear, and tons of useful accessories.  It’s certainly beginning to look a lot like fall!

They really thought of everything. You can even get a bike to go with your outfit.

Let’s fly to Paris!

The Summer of the Dressy Short

When going anywhere, I always find it better to be overdressed than underdressed.  This summer, casual dressy has a new contender.  Shorts aren’t just for the beach anymore. They have gone dressy.  Mini skirts have always been a socialite summer staple and always will be. But, this summer we are seeing a hot new trend of dressy shorts as the latest alternative to the classic mini.

This style has turned heads on everyone from Lauren Conrad to Kourtney Kardashian. This new look even received a rave review from the harshest celebrity critic on Earth when Joan Rivers gave it her stamp of approval on Fashion Police.  Though I don’t recommend busting out the dressy shorts for your next afternoon wedding, they are a great choice to combine with your highest heels during a late summer night at a rooftop bar.
