NYFW Contest: Help Betsey Johnson Find Her Vintage Pieces

Here’s yet another reason to be psyched out of your mind for New York Fashion Week!  Fashion icon and idol Betsey Johnson is hosting the ultimate contest giving fans on Facebook the chance to win a ticket to her runway show in September.  Through August 20th, Facebook fans are encouraged to submit photos of their beloved Betsey Vintage pieces from the 60s (Paraphernalia), 70s (Alley Cat), and 80s (Punk Label) to be entered to win the following life changing prizes:

  • Grand Prize Winner will receive one ticket to the Betsey Johnson runway show
  • Runner-up Winners will receive personal artwork from Betsey herself

All selected winners will see their vintage pieces on the catwalk, but all will be returned at the end of the runway show.

Don’t waste time – Click Here to quickly get to the Betsey Johnson Facebook page to enter!  And don’t forget to include #BJTreasureHunt with every posting!

If you’re reading this Betsey, I sadly don’t have any of your vintage pieces, but I would really like a ticket to your NYFW show!

This Fashion Week Travel on Fashion Wheels

Keep your high heels on ladies because beginning today (Feb. 10th) New York branding and communications agency, The Promotion Factory, is providing fashionistas with a free ride to all the major shows at New York Fashion Week.  Keep an eye out for Fashion Wheels at Lincoln Center, Milk Studios, and everywhere in between.  They are also providing real time location updates on the @ThePromoFact Twitter using the hashtag #FashionWheels.

Looks like you won’t be needing a limo to ride around the city in style.  I’m so looking forward to not having to deal with cabs or subways while rushing around to all the shows and parties on my itinerary.  Plus, it’s going to be a blast bonding with fellow fashionistas and sharing our Fashion Week experiences on the bus.

Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2012 Fashion Show

February is American Heart Month. So tonight, I kicked off New York Fashion Week at the Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection 2012 Fashion Show. Sadly, heart disease is still the biggest killer of women so it’s never been more important to raise awareness about heart health. I was really proud to be there to witness a milestone year as The Heart Truth unveiled their 10th Red Dress Collection just a few blocks away from my apartment at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

This year, the celebrities who walked down the runway in gorgeous red dresses included Aisha Tyler, Chaka Khan, Cindi Leive, Christie Brinkley, Debbie Phelps, Elisabeth Röhm, Giselle Blondet, Gloria Estefan, Jeannette Torres-Álvarez, Jenna Elfman, Jennifer Nettles, La La Anthony, Linda Evans, Minka Kelly, Patti Stanger, Rebecca Romijn, and Rose McGowan.  Each looking amazing in Alberta Ferretti, Badgley Mischka, Carlos Miele, Carmen Marc Valvo, Chris March, Donna Karan, Jason Wu, Marc Bouwer, Marchesa, Michael Kors, Nicole Miller, and Oscar de la Renta.  I even spotted Diane von Furstenberg in the crowd.  But, my all time favorite moment was when Christie Brinkley strutted down the runway to the tune of ex-husband, Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl.  Considering that song was written about her, I’m sure that choice was no accident.  What a wonderful way to spend a snowy February night.  Oh, and I also met Miss U.S.A.

Red Hot Grand Finale!  Thanks Ladies!

This inspires me to go red dress shopping:

It Gets Better Fashion Week Lounge at the Empire Hotel

Just had the best time supporting a good cause at the It Gets Better Project Fashion Week Lounge at the Empire Hotel sponsored by ELLE Magazine, Rue La La, and the Sundance Channel.  I was so honored to be invited to such a wonderful event for an equally wonderful cause.  For those aspiring it really does get better.

After I hit up the many flavors of air at the oxygen bar, Lilibeth did an amazing job on my eyebrows.  I even got my hair styled by Sue from the John Barrett Salon in a fun side braid.  Emmy Award winning makeup artist and all around fun person, KJ Bennett, brought out my blue eyes with his unmatched makeup techniques.  Thanks to KJ I’m all ready to go out tonight. The highlight of my morning/afternoon was signing the Rue La La wall with a special message for the It Gets Better Project. I’m so glad that I could do good this Fashion Week.

Be yourself and keep aspiring because it gets better!

KJ Bennett did an amazing job on my makeup. Plus, he was a lot of fun to work with. I’m all ready for my It Gets Better PSA!

Fashion’s Night Out Insanity in Meatpacking

Like thousands of other great fashionistas, I spent my Fashion’s Night Out 2011 cursing the shops of the Meatpacking District in search of free drinks and couture. It’s like one big free party where the guests of honor are the clothes. I started out the evening with a mixed drink at Hugo Boss. There, I got the urge to take a picture of myself in the mirror to show off both my outfit and the store as a whole. I kept doing this at every single store throughout the night.

My next stop was Matthew Williamson (pictured left) where the colors were vibrant as always. Due to some rambunctious fashion lovers last year, the House of Matthew Williamson had a strict two drink maximum. With lines around the block, Alexander McQueen was harder to get into than Will and Kate’s Royal Wedding. So I headed over to Diane von Furstenberg which had crowds of its own and some really awesome dresses. After stopping by Catherine Malandrino and Scoop, I hopped around some more and finished the evening with a mojito at Carlos Mieli. FNO is always a good time.

On Fashion’s Night Out, celebrities make appearances everywhere. I was secretly hoping to see a Kardashian. The girls from the new cast of America’s Next Top Model All Stars took over the Express store in SoHo.

The crazy shoes of FNO! Everyone was taking pictures of this girl’s shoes.

The streets of Meatpacking were transformed into a couture-driven Disney World. Can’t wait until next year.
