The Hunger Games Fashion

Like everyone who thrives on pop culture, I’m so excited for The Hunger Games movie to come out on March 23rd.  Based on a book by Suzanne Collins and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, The Hunger Games tells the story of a futuristic society composed of 12 poor districts under the control of the cruel wealthy Capitol.  As part of a warped tradition that spans from both intimidation and entertainment, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by a lottery to participate in a televised fight to the death known as The Hunger Games where 24 go into the arena and only one emerges alive.

Now, I don’t mean to make light of a crazy society that forces young people to fight to the death, but this whole concept reminds me very much of a Tory Burch sample sale where fashionistas fight to the death over a discounted pair of wedges. This inspired me to put together a collection of Hunger Games-inspired fashions from District Socialite filled with brown earth tones and featuring signature symbols such as birds and arrows from the cover art. This is so Panem.
