A Witchy October Weekend in Salem

The Witch House Halloween in Salem

Witchy weekends in Salem are what October is all about! They don’t call it Witch City for nothing. This little New England village is filled with history, paranormal pop culture and everything a Halloween/horror enthusiast like myself could ask for. I went a couple weekends ago with my cousin and if I didn’t already have plans to go to Denver I would totally go back next weekend for the Witch City Film Festival. The black house you see me in front of is known as The Witch House. But, no witches actually lived there. It was the home of Judge Jonathan Corwin and is the only structure still standing in Salem with direct ties to the Salem witch trials. He sentenced 19 people to die during the witch trials. All of which proclaimed their innocence until the very end.

I visited a psychic that had some amazing predictions (apparently 2019 and 2020 are going to be very lucrative years for me). I also stopped by my favorite witch store Hauswitch. Witch City really is a beautiful town, especially in the fall. It’s basically a real life Halloweentown! I felt like everyone should be walking around singing “This is Halloween” like in The Nightmare Before Christmas. I’m obsessed with Halloween so naturally I feel right at home in Salem and more like myself dressed like I’m about to make a cameo in The Craft.

At the end of the weekend, my cousin asked me if I wanted to go to a Fleetwood Mac concert with her in March and of course I said yes because I already have an outfit. My spooky Stevie Nicks-inspired look consists of this BB Dakota 9-To-5 Chiffon Tie Neck Dress in Black, Spanx Faux Leather LeggingsCrescent Moon Pendant, and Tahari Corbin Over-The-Knee Boots.

If you’re looking to visit yourself I highly recommend it. Salem is small so it’s easy to find your own way around and get into something witchy right away. October is crazy so I highly suggest taking the train in from Boston if you’re visiting before Halloween so you don’t have to park a mile away. You also may want to visit the museums in the offseason too as the lines out front are crazy scary this time of year. Until next year Salem!
