Disneyworld!

Disneyworld Magic Kingdom

I just got back from an amazing trip to Disneyworld with my boyfriend Ian and his family. I’d been to Disneyworld twice as a kid, but this time I got to relive my childhood and my love for the Disney Princesses through new eyes. The first day at Epcot, I learned that you’re never too old to stand in line to meet Disney characters. One of the highlights was meeting Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco. Aladdin kept calling my camera a genie. By night, Magic Kingdom came alive with its fireworks show and parade. Seeing Cinderella’s castle lit up never ceases to inspire me.

For those of you planning a visit, here are a few key tips. It’s best to visit Magic Kingdom when the sun goes down and the kids have gone to bed because you can pretty much get on any ride you want. At Animal Kingdom, it was great to go on the safari ride then cool off on Kali River Rapids (just be ready to get wet). Lastly, always wear sneakers. I wouldn’t have made it to so many parks without my Skechers Go Walk shoes.

Many thanks to the Schwab family for making me a part of their magical vacation!

Escape to Mexico

Cancun

I recently escaped the bitter return of the Polar Vortex at an unforgettable destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico. Though this was my first destination wedding, I certainly hope it won’t be my last. I absolutely loved lounging on the beach and swimming up to the poolside bar at Dreams Cancun. There’s truly nothing like life at an all inclusive resort. Even if I’d stayed forever (as I wish I had), the clear blue ocean, dolphins, and waking up to the sound of the waves crashing would never cease to amaze me.

I don’t know why I left, but I know I will return…

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mothers-Day

Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful Mother, Renee! Here we are on the beaches of her home country, Venezuela, enjoying some sunshine at our favorite beach club, Club Puerto Azul, back in 1987. I can’t get over how cute these photos are and how much I want to go back to Puerto Azul with my Mom and little sister. Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers out there!

The Haute Life in a Hammock

A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I’ve always wanted a hammock or as you would say in Spanish “Una Maca.”  It’s not a secret or anything, it just doesn’t usually come up.  Some of my greatest naps as a child were spent on hammocks either on the beaches of Venezuela or in the woods of Maine.  I’m an Irish/Latina hence the polar opposite choices of vacation destinations.  My background has really made me the well-rounded person I am today.  However, I’m hoping that someday owning a hammock of my own will make me a well-rested person for once.

There’s just nothing like lying in a hammock on a warm day listening to the sounds of nature as it swings back and forth slightly.  I have truly never experienced anything so relaxing.  Really the only thing getting in my way of owning a hammock is the lack of space in my apartment.  I guess I’ll just have to wait for the day when I have a backyard again or an apartment with a terrace to make this much needed addition to my life.  But, that doesn’t mean I can’t start shopping.

Here are my top hammock picks for my future socialite residence:
