Steal vs. Splurge: Leopard Print Faux Fur Coat

Womens Faux Fur Coat

Splurge: Sabine Women’s Faux Fur Animal Coat from Piperlime ($129)

When it comes to dressing up a pair of jeans for a day of shopping or a little black dress for a dinner party, nothing is more fun than a faux fur leopard print coat. Since leopard prints (especially coats) aren’t really meant for everyday wear, this isn’t something I would recommend splurging on unless of course you have deep pockets. Steal or splurge, a leopard faux fur will be the most Samantha Jones item in your wardrobe.

Wooded Winter Style

winter fashion

Though I don’t like extremely hot or extremely cold weather, I love the changing of seasons. However, even when seasons are in full bloom, the weather can still be very unpredictable. While home for the holidays in Wilmington, Delaware, I decided to do a shoot with some of my favorite winter wear. But, when the day came around, I was pleasantly surprised by an unseasonably warm spring day. Many thanks to my Mom for taking the photos!

I’m wearing one of my favorite winter sweaters that I got forever ago at Forever 21, a pair of Circus by Sam Edelman Rider Tall Riding Boots, Rock & Republic for Kohl’s Berlin Skinny Jeans and a basic black tank from Express.

Steal vs. Splurge: Black Suede Leather Over the Knee Boots

Stuart Weitzman boots

Splurge: Stuart Weitzman Lowland Women’s Over the Knee Boots ($785)

This time of year, one of the many things I wish for is a fabulous designer pair of suede over the knee boots.  I just love how they can be sexy without revealing anything at all. Plus, they’re super warm and go with almost everything. This fashionable dichotomy is what makes OTK boots a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. Lately, I’ve had my eye on the “Lowland” over the knee boots by Stuart Weitzman. However, with a price tag of over $700, they are regretfully not a part of my winter wardrobe.

Knowing that a number of fellow fashionistas were being faced with the same footwear dilemma, I decided to search for a more affordable pair. During my search, I found a practically identical pair for nearly a third of the price at Goodnight Macaroon. Happy holidays (and shopping) to boot lovers everywhere!

College Fashion Week 2014

college fashion week new york

With the pressures of the real world constantly building up, I often like to pretend that I’m back in college. Over the weekend, I relived my collegiate years when I sat front row at New York’s College Fashion Week hosted by Her Campus. Having covered New York Fashion Week for many seasons, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, after an amazing evening of fashion, talent and fun, I wish that I was back in college more than ever and can’t wait to experience College Fashion Week all over again next year.

The evening started off with cocktails, hairdos by TRESemmé, custom foundation by bareMinerals and eyebrows by European Wax Center. When the show began, college students who could have been mistaken for professional models strutted down the runway in the latest fall fashions from boohoo.com.

While the first collection consisted of imperial styles filled with sleek military glam, the second was entitled “Brooklyn Princess” and featured pink, powdery sporty separates. The third collection, Woodlanders, was my favorite. I loved the forest prints and earthy hues for fall. In between each collection, talented college students performed incredible music and dance routines including Columbia Sharp, Columbia University’s All Male A Capella group. I guess that’s something New York Fashion Week doesn’t have – cute Ivy League men singing John Legend ballads.

How to Make Everyday a Fashion Show

Life is meant to be lived to its fullest, and that starts with being proud of who you are. There’s no shame in showing the world your confidence and style. No matter who you are or where you’re from, you don’t have to be a movie star or a supermodel to have style, and you don’t have to be a millionaire to be classy and admired.

Finding Your Personal Style

Being chic and classy begins with being yourself and having a clear understanding of what works for you. Once you know what looks work for you, start combining them with what’s in style. Fashion recommendations come to us constantly without us even searching for them. We’re bombarded so often, that most of us don’t even pay attention. However, it never hurts to keep your eyes open and make a note of what you like or what you’d like to avoid.

The Cherry on Top

Once you have a clear feel for the kind of style you have and how you’d like it to evolve, every day really becomes a fashion show. To go along with the classy themes that I like to embody, I’d love to someday sport a Rolex. Though it’s not cheap, it’s the quintessential accessory for any man or woman who wants to show (not tell) that he or she is the embodiment of class and ambition. The Rolex, as you all know, is much more than just a watch or a gorgeous piece of jewelry, it’s a statement of passion and drive. If you’re interested in a myriad styles of stunning timepieces, go to either The Watch Buyers Group or ALTIN place and enjoy bringing your daily fashion show to the next level.
