Music-Inspired Jewelry By Carrera y Carrera

Art is everywhere and so is inspiration.  Living in a city filled with rhythm, sparkle, and surprise, I never find myself lacking in inspiration making the crazy rent I pay to live in a closet in the center of the universe completely worth it.  Jean Cocteau once said, “All good music resembles something.”  In this case, fashion resembles music.  As the new face of Carrera y Carrera’s “Musica” collection, Olivia Palermo, sparkles in a wide array of music-inspired jewelry including stackable rings, statement necklaces, and exquisite earrings in yellow and white gold with diamonds, onyx, and other precious materials.  This stunning collection is inspired by guitar strings, music notes, and flowing skirts all of which are emotional and exceptional in their own way.

Remembering Whitney Houston

Celebrity deaths always cause me to contemplate my own mortality and nothing cuts deeper than the death of a diva. For days I’ve been thinking about what exactly to say about Whitney Houston’s tragic death. But, after watching the E! News Whitney Houston Special, I think that I’ve finally come to realize how Whitney has touched my life. Having been born in 1986, I was just a child throughout the height of Whitney’s amazing career. My first memories of her occurred while listening to the radio in my mother’s old mini van on the way to school, dance classes, and orthodontist appointments.

Once Whitney’s flawless voice hit the airways, everything seemed to fade away. I’d sit back in the passenger’s seat staring at my reflection in the rear view mirror wondering if my less than confident self could ever exude the genuine confidence of Whitney Houston. Little did I know that more than 10 years later, I’d hear of her death via Twitter on a not so quiet night in Harlem still trying the to understand all the emotions she so famously sang about and remembering all the forgotten hours I once spent driving around in my mother’s mini van.

MySpace AMP’d Up Concert at the Best Buy Theater

Sorry socialites, but I have been a bit behind on my blogging. Things have been so busy and here is why. Monday night I attended the MySpace AMP’d Up Concert at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square in honor of the first night of Advertising Week here in New York. If the open bar wasn’t enough, Far East Movement, B.o.B., and Natasha Bedingfield performed. I was especially impressed with Natasha Bedingfield’s performance as she belted out notes on stage. It’s ironic that nowadays we are impressed when artists actually sing in concert. When you think about it, that really should be a given.

Props to Ms. Bedingfield for putting on an amazing live performance. I got some amazing shots and video of her singing “Sending Out an S.O.S.” Lately, I have found myself saying S.O.S. to the world due to my busy schedule.  You’re only young in New York City once and I’m out to experience everything I have the opportunity to experience. Even if it means staying out till the early morning hours. Hope you enjoy this exclusive clip. I believe in approaching the world boldly. So I love how bold this performance is.
