One of the things I miss most about Fashion Week besides the over the top shows, fab parties, and free stuff are the photo booths. I love hanging out in the lounges getting fun pictures in Fashion Week’s many photo booths. Here I am in the TRESemmé photo booth after seeing my last Fall 2013 show at New York Fashion Week. Even though I didn’t have any more shows to attend, I wasn’t quite ready to leave Lincoln Center so I checked out the lounges and posed for photos.
As a fashion writer, I know I’m not supposed to say this as most of us can’t wait for the stress and chaos of Fashion Week to be over so we can have a life again, but I’m sad that it’s over. Not only do I wish I’d been to more shows, I also wish I were going to London Fashion Week to see more Fall 2013 collections. But, maybe I should be careful what I wish for…
With New York Fashion Week in full swing, it’s important to always be prepared for every show, presentation, and party. As a Fashion Blogger, being prepared means so much more than wearing the perfect outfit. It means packing all the right stuff to not only look the part, but cover every stylish moment like a pro.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Technology: Nowadays every great fashion icon must constantly be plugged into the latest technology so it’s super important to bring along your phone, tablet, or any other device to live tweet and share fab photos. Whatever you do, don’t forget to bring along all chargers. With the volume of tweeting, instagraming, and sharing, your phone will probably run out of batteries in 1-2 hours. Luckily, most lounges have charging stations and Sansung even sponsored a bunch of charging stations around Lincoln Center this season for a quick charge in between shows. Though you will be taking a lot of pictures with your phone or tablet, I highly recommend also bringing along a high res camera to capture better quality photos. Be sure to pack your camera charger too.
Uppers: Caffeine is a vital part of your survival at Fashion Week. Instead of survival of the fittest, it’s survival of the most caffeinated. Massive amounts of Diet Coke, Coffee, and Red Bull will allow you to stay at an after party until 4 a.m. and wake up to flawlessly cover a 9 a.m. show. Since I’m all about inspiration, I also like to carry around inspirational messages to myself.
Personal Care: When you’re running around the city to attend events with some of the most fashionable and beautiful people in the world, you’ll always want to look your best. Therefore, I never leave my apartment without a mirror and brush along with makeup and nail polish for any necessary touch ups throughout the day. Gum is also great to have with you.
Business Cards: Another thing never to forget is your business cards. I’m already out and need to order more ASAP.
On Friday I braved snow, ice, and sleet to see the Nicole Miller Fall 2013 Collection on the runway at Lincoln Center and it was 100% worth it. I loved her tomboy-inspired designs complete with dark tones and top hats. It kind of reminded me of a modern-day feminized look you would see on Mad Men which is perfect for a day at the office or chic night on the town.
This Friday February 8th at 6:00 p.m. I will be descending upon Lincoln Center to view Nicole Miller‘s Fall ’13 collection on the runway. The inspiration behind this collection is “Girls Who Dress Like Boys.” I can’t wait to see these timeless tomboy looks hit the runway complete with menswear-inspired patterns and subdued colors. As a preview for the show, I was sent these inspirational sketches as a teaser of what’s to come. Even if you won’t be at Fashion Week, you can still watch the show live with me.
