No, it’s not a diamond! I went with an untraditional engagement ring and I have no regrets. This asymmetrical sapphire beauty is by Brooklyn-based designer Mociun (pronounced like “motion”). It’s not the huge diamond that I dreamed of as a little girl, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s unique, imperfect and beautiful just like our relationship.

I can’t tell you how many times a girl with a huge diamond ring has come up to me in yoga or on the street to tell me how much they love my ring. I feel like it really tells a story rather than try to make a statement which is why I truly love it. When I was first shopping for rings (because I insisted on picking it out) I took a look at the traditional diamonds and I liked them, but none really stuck out to me or were memorable. I felt like they were all trying to be something they weren’t. Then I discovered Mociun and came across this ring. Once I saw it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I knew I wanted to wear it for eternity.
