Glossy Glam Nails

OPI is one of the best quality nail polish lines on the market today. Its long lasting resilience is beyond top notch, but the names in which these brilliant colors go by are utterly inspiring. With monikers such as Dating a Royal and Greenwich Village who can resist painting the town red day in and day out? For this reason, I am on mission to have OPI’s newest color named “Aspiring Socialite.”

Here are 10 reasons why OPI should name their next hottest color in honor of this blog:

10. A socialite can pull off any color.

9. Getting a manicure is a once a week activity for any aspiring socialite.

8. There is nothing wrong with wearing your pretentiousness on your sleeve.

7. Aspiring to the glossy and glamorous life while doing whatever you want is what “Aspiring Socialite” stands for.

6. Socialites are some of the biggest trendsetters.

5. Quality nail polish is important to people with good taste.

4. If someone told a socialite that they did not like their nail polish color they would still think it was fabulous.

3. I could plan a Hampton’s launch party for this new color.

2. Who doesn’t have high aspirations for their future?

1. Everyone knows that the journey of to the top is a lot more fun than actually being there.

On that note, “Aspiring Socialite” is looking forward to gracing the shelves of every nail salon and beauty supply store. Most of all, the people who read this blog are so awesome that I want to give them something tangible to represent the intangible qualities Aspiring Socialite processes. Love it!

Being in the Right Place at the Right Time

Often the most successful people in both careers and relationships are not the smartest, the most attractive, or the most talented, but were simply in the right place at the right time. Finding success in anything is not all that different from attempting to be discovered as an actor or actress. In many ways, an aspiring socialite is to New York what an aspiring actor is to Hollywood. What do you do as a performer looking for your big break? Go on as many auditions as possible with the intention of wowing everyone.

Everyday is an audition for the movie we call life. Though you can never be certain if you will be cast as the fabulous leading lady or simply an extra, you can up your odds of being the prima donna by never turning down an invitation. Put your doubts and need for rest aside and sleep when your dead. Spend the night on the town when you planned on a night in or go that after party when all you want to do is go home and sleep. A missed opportunity is potentially a missed success. Don’t wonder 50 years from now what might have been. Never turn down an invitation.

A Farewell to Fashion Week and Bryant Park

New York Fashion Week’s last year at Bryant Park has sadly come to a close. Feeling like a true fashionista, I walk by Bryant Park everyday on my way to and from work and over the past week seeing it glowing with the aura of fashion week with the Mercedes-Benz logo has been the highlight of my day. The fictional editor-in-chief, Miranda Preistly, in The Devil Wears Prada once described fashion as art you live your life in and she was correct. As an Aspiring Socialite, who has not yet gained a seat adjacent to the runway, I can still know that I was a part of such an amazing week when I see the colors and styles inspired by the outlandish runway designs tickle down into my favorite discount stores. We are all a part of Bryant Park’s legacy either as willing participants or collateral damage.

Though it is unfortunate that New York Fashion Week will no longer take place at Bryant Park, I am not at all surprised by the decision. As Oscar Wilde once said, “Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.”  In the worlds of fashion, entertainment, and publicity, we always tend to disregard the past in favor of the next big thing. A month ago, my psychic told me that the universe is constantly moving at high speeds, therefore, change is inevitable. This gives every aspiring socialite hope that they will be seated front row center at fashion week in six months. After all, Mr. Wilde also said, “Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.” So go ahead, live like a true American socialite.
