Why I Love Carolina Herrera

If there’s two things no one would guess just by looking at me, they are my Latin American heritage and my love of horror films.  As an Irish/Latina, I’m just as proud of my unique heritage as I am my love of fashion.  While my Dad is Irish American, my Mom was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela.  That being said, I’ve long had a huge adoration for fashion designer and fellow Venezuelan, Carolina Herrera.

Not only are her designs impeccable, but she carries herself with the such class.  She’s truly perfected the kind of class that my Latin mother always raised me to have.  If that wasn’t enough, Carolina Herrera has also perfected the iconic bridal gown dressing both American royalty and fictional characters in some of the most viewed weddings ever.

With their broad shoulders and crazy headdresses, I’ve never been a fan of 80’s brides, but I feel a personal connection to the shamrock-filled wedding dress Carolina Herrera designed for Caroline Kennedy.  Shamrocks were said to be a favorite of JFK so Caroline requested the dress have shamrocks in memory of her father.  As a proud Irish/Latina, I couldn’t feel more connected to a shamrock dress designed by a beloved Venezuelan.

Yes, I’ll admit it.  I’m a Twilight fan and I’m totally Team Edward.  The dress Carolina Herrera designed for the wedding scene of Breaking Dawn: Part 1, captured Bella’s simple glamour perfectly.

June Weddings 101

I love weddings, especially June weddings. With summer fast approaching, my daydreams are filled with images of breathtaking outdoor weddings under the sun.  Though there’s a certain etiquette to being a bride, bridesmaid, mother of the bride, etc. no one really tells you what to do or wear when you are just a guest at a wedding.  Well, that’s all about to change.

Being a guest at someone’s wedding is just as much of an honor as being in the wedding, but with less responsibilities.  Be sure to look fabulous by dressing appropriately for the theme, venue, and time of day.  When with the bride and groom, don’t steal their spotlight.  But, being the center of attention at your table or on the dance floor is fair game.  Though catching the bouquet is always fun, you up your chances of being the next person to get married  by hobnobbing with as many cute guys in the reception as possible.

What to Wear to an Afternoon Summer Wedding:

Just because I have yet to be invited to a wedding this summer, doesn’t mean that I can’t start planning my outfit.
