Wildfox Couture SS13 + Clueless = Best Lookbook Ever!!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, nothing has influenced who I am today more than the 1995 hit movie, Clueless.  If I didn’t have Kate Middleton listed as my religion on Facebook, I would list Clueless.  For Wildfox Couture‘s SS13 Lookbook, designer, Kimberly Gordon, paid tribute to the cultural phenomenon created by Amy Heckerling that transformed an era of grunge fashion into one of the upscale Beverly Hills teen complete with computerized closets and phrases such as “As If” and “Totally Bogus.”

Growing up as a kid in the 90s with Cher Horowitz as my childhood idol gave me the belief that anything is possible and that a girl can really have it all.  Many thanks to Kimberly Gordon and Wildfox Couture for bringing me back to my childhood self with their amazing SS13 collection.  To view the complete lookbook visit the I Love Wildfox Blog.

Etienne Aigner Revival & SS13 Preview

One of the best parts of being a fashion blogger in NYC, are the showroom visits.  On my recent visit to the Etienne Aigner showroom for the SS13 press preview, I experienced the brand’s rich history and upcoming revival.  I’ve always admired Etienne Aigner’s fine leathers and equestrian qualities which fall somewhere in between a western and Sloane Ranger style.  However, what I found most interesting was that the designer started out as a bookbinder.  When his bookbinding business closed, Aigner found himself with a bunch of materials leftover and began making accessories.  With a new creative team, the brand’s original soul and vision are being restored.

Love the sophisticated simplicity of this RTW SS13 collection. Marble prints are truly becoming an Etienne Aigner signature.

Bewitching

Last Week, Hedi Slimane launched the house of Saint Laurent Paris back into fabulosity at Paris Fashion Week with his couture coven of witches.  While most people got caught up in the collection’s drama with Cathy Horyn, I became absolutely bewitched by the collection and spent hours trying to wrap my head around the fashion house’s mysterious name change.  Inspired by YSL SS13 and witch inspired fashion in general, I headed downtown to Enchantments, my favorite spiritual supply store, on 9th St. between 1st Ave. and Ave A.

I discovered Enchantments three years ago when I first moved the city.  In the mist of searching for a job, I picked up a candle said to bring career success.  I lit it for seven days as directed and by the next week, I had three interviews one of which was at Vogue.  I didn’t end up getting any of those positions, but I was happy to have brought forth a much-needed change in the universe.  When I spoke to the owner, Stacy, about taking pictures at the store for my fashion blog, she mentioned having made custom candles for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry making me feel even more spiritually connected to my favorite fashion designers and editors.  To rediscover your fashionable spiritual side, find Enchantments on Facebook and check out my photo shoot that just may make cauldrons and candles this season’s hottest accessories.

Striking a spellbinding pose

Enchantments isn’t just an awesome place to visit around Halloween, their products are great to everything from purifying a new apartment to enhancing your career to finding true love.

More cauldrons!

Obviously, this place is going to have amazing Halloween windows.  I’ll have to stop by again soon because they add to them on a daily basis.

The Elegance of Zang Toi SS13

Zang Toi’s SS13 collection was the epitome of elegance.  It was so elegant that it went past black tie and into the realm of white tie.  If I had to sum up the entire collection in one sentence, I’d describe it as modern class with Victorian undertones.  I’m seeing many Red Carpets in store for Zang Toi’s designs this season.  With a collection that exuded such class and beauty, it’s no wonder it got a standing ovation.

Classy pink gown

Love the pinned back hair! I’ve seen tons of black and white this season.

Zang Toi’s choice of colors which included black, white, and gorgeous pastels really enhanced the elegance.
