Can’t Wait for Will & Kate!

On the eve of the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton that is bound to set records, I am beginning to feel the way I did as child on Christmas Eve. Today, I snapped a photo of this adorable picture of Will and Kate on a cab a second before it sped away down Ninth Ave. Even here across the pond, we are beaming with excitement for tomorrow’s epic wedding at Westminster Abbey. Lately, however, I have been hearing a lot of William and Kate hate. Though the media constantly being flooded with images of the royal couple can get old after a while, succeeding a decade full of natural disasters, war, and economic devastation, isn’t it time the world celebrated something happy? In the end William and Kate are normal people who were lucky enough to find love, I don’t see the fascination with them ceasing anytime soon. Yet, they would probably be just as fascinated with my life here in New York as I am with their romantic engagement and opulent ceremony.

Elizabeth Emanuel, the designer of Princess Diana’s famous wedding gown with the 25 foot train, just came out with a line of t-shirts to celebrate tomorrow’s occasion on her online boutique. In case you receive a very very last-minute invitation to the wedding you may want to check out Elizabeth Emanuel’s stunning Little Black Dress Collection.

How to Get Out of Work to Watch the Royal Wedding

With the royal wedding less than a week away, it is now time you started making plans to tune into the fashion, the romance, and the excess of this day. Though the actual guest list was limited to an elite group of 1900, with the amount of broadcast networks covering this occasion and websites live streaming the wedding of the century, it is going to be hard for anyone to miss seeing William and Kate tie the knot.

With England being six hours ahead, coverage will begin on April 29th promptly at 4 a.m. Eastern Time. I intend to wake up at exactly 4 a.m. in order not to miss a moment of the coverage of this couture fairy tale. At 4:10 a.m. I will call my mother who named me after Queen Victoria to go over what is happening with her. But, what happens when the clock strikes 9 a.m. and the New York work day begins? Well, Cinderella didn’t turn into a pumpkin until midnight and neither should you. The British people were given the day off. Therefore, it is time you took your own Bank Holiday.

Cinderella didn’t skip the ball because her stepmother would rather have had her clean the chimney. Here are some suggestions to avoid the office in order to watch this once in a lifetime fairy tale unfold across the pond:

Don’t show up: The royal family may have certain obligations, but you don’t. If you have to make a spur of the moment decision not to go to work for a day, I’m sure everyone will understand. After all, you can always “work from home.”

Family emergency: With all of the press the royals have been getting surrounding this most high profile wedding, they have begun to feel like family to all of us.

Sickness: Calling in sick is always a classic excuse to avoid the workplace when there is something you would much rather be doing. To make your excuse more believable call in sick the day before and treat yourself to a spa staycation. Then when you call in sick the day of the wedding it will just be an extension of the illness of the day before.

Congratulations to Prince William & Kate Middleton!

Now that my blog redesign is nearly finished, I finally have the chance to congratulate the recently engaged Prince William and Kate Middleton.  This adorable couple that go beyond socialite status into the realm of royalty, are surprisingly down to earth.  Much can be said about Miss Middleton’s Sloane Ranger style inspired by the boutiques of London’s Chelsea district. As an American fashionista, I have become obsessed with Kate’s glamorous hats that the royal wedding has yet to cross my mind.  Next time I attend a formal event, I will be sure to follow in Kate Middleton’s footsteps with an eye-catching hat.

However, as this newly engaged beauty has already discovered, haute is the head that wears the hat and heavy is the head that wears the crown.  Kate must really love with William to put up with all of the uncalled for cruelty of the British press and constant comparisons to the late Princess Diana.  As any great public figure should, Kate has handled the scrutiny of the public with a form of class that shines even brighter than her stunning engagement ring.  Hearts may be breaking all over the world, but I could not be happier for this lovely couple.  The only thing that is getting to me is that neither of them are on Twitter.  I don’t know about you, but I am craving some live tweeting straight from Buckingham Palace.
