Uptown Holiday

For most people a holiday stroll consists of walking around the neighborhood and looking at everyone’s Christmas lights. But for me it consists of walking around Central Park West in a Red Vinyl Check Swing Coat reminiscent of Blair Waldorf’s preppy Manhattan style.

I think it’s safe to say that this red coat from Topshop is truly the perfect holiday ensemble. It’s festive, stylish and perfect to put over any holiday dress. It’s also just a great statement coat for the warmer winter months. And yes it really does make you feel like you should be on Gossip Girl.

I paired it with a clutch from Topshop that they don’t seem to have anymore. But their Shimmer Quilted Clutch Bag and Capital Frame Clutch are similar and just as fab. I used CND Vinylux Nail Lacquer Polish in Tartan Punk on my nails to get the holiday red color and Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Red To Wear for festive lips. I also sported my favorite pair of slimming opaque tights Star Power by Spanx.

A Rainy Day in the West Village

I once heard a quote that said “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Having lived in NYC for the past few years, I’m certain that nothing could be more true.

West Village NYC Rainy Day

While the New York life can often seem glamourous through the eyes of an outsider, being a New Yorker means that curveballs are constantly going to be thrown at you. So I’ve learned to enjoy walking in the rain, especially if my rainy walks are in the West Village. It’s just beautiful there.

A Beautiful Weekend in New York

High Line Park New York City Spring Flowers

Over the weekend, my Mom came to visit me in New York. Together we enjoyed two of the first nice days Manhattan has seen in months. After a couple mimosa-filled brunches, we explored The High Line and Central Park. According to my Mom’s Jawbone, we burned tons of calories with all the walking we did. While it’s sad to see a beautiful weekend end, I know there will be many more to come.

Being Touristy!

tourist

For two years running, my Mom has come up for Delaware to New York City for her birthday. I guess now you can call it a tradition. This year, we decided to be super touristy and take both a bus and boat tour of Manhattan. I would absolutely recommend the boat tour or at least taking a boat cruise around the Hudson River (which I plan to try next). However, the bus tour was at best okay. Even as a tourist you see most of the places walking anyway and the tour guide was super annoying. What I liked most about the boat tour is that you could see the city from a whole new prepective and get see the Statue of Liberty up close at sunset.
