Functionally Beautiful Home Decor

DSC01169

Living in a tiny apartment on the west side of Midtown Manhattan, I’m always looking for beautiful ways to save space. To make this fancy nail polish and makeup station, I saved the vase my boyfriend sent me a dozen roses in on Valentine’s Day, filled it with my favorite nail polish colors, and topped it off with makeup brushes, eyeliner, and a handy nail file. It’s not only a beautiful decoration, but it’s a functional way to store my makeup and nail polish that doesn’t involve having all my beauty products thrown across my windowsill.

Carol Brodie Namesake Collection for HSN Preview

Earlier this week, I attended the preview of Carol Brodie’s Namesake Collection of opulent home and fashion accessories sold exclusively on HSN.  Since I aspire to live everyday as if it were an opulent affair, I love this classy collection designed to ward off haters.  When Carol Brodie thanked everyone for joining her at the Soho House for her collection’s preview, she explained the significance behind the evil eye present in most of her jewelry in home designs.  It’s meant to ward off the haters who want to bring you down when you’re on your way up.  Though you need your haters because if you don’t have them you’re not making enough of a dent in the universe, like Carol, I prefer the company of my love circle to my hate circle and I’m proud to call myself a member of this collection’s love circle.  I also must say that the evil eye cupcakes were a delicious touch and that her candles smell amazing.

Can’t get enough of warding off haters with Carol Brodie’s signature evil eye

Sparkly Socialite Pillows!

Monica Rich Kosann’s Planet Collection is Totally Interstellar

I often find myself dreaming about Oasis’ “Champagne Supernova in the Sky” though this is probably a reference to some unsavory behavior involving hallucinogens, it makes me think of penthouse apartments and private helicopter rides, the products of living large.  Socialites often live in a world of their own and I am no exception. Though I physically reside in the real world, my mind is permanently located high above the flat line in the champagne supernova in the sky. Finding socialite fame is only a matter of having these two worlds collide.   When I spotted Monica Rich Kosann’s Planet Collection necklaces on Ramshackle Glam, I fell in love with their design and intergalactic elegance.

As an impeccable storyteller herself, Monica Rich Kosann makes all of her pieces with the purpose of allowing a woman to tell her story while expressing her fashion sense.   They are often described as “heirlooms for our generation” designed to be passed along to the next making her work truly timeless.  Retailing for well over $2,500, the Planet Collection is not only out of this world, for now, it is also well out of my price range. But, that never stopped me from aspiring.
