Halloween Glam

In case you haven’t noticed, I love everything about Halloween. I love the scary movies, the chill in the fall air, and of course dressing up. It’s a true celebration of fall and the occult. Though Halloween gets the reputation of being scary and it often is, it’s so much more than that. When I saw these mannequins in the storefront of an Upper East Side florist, I realized just how glamorous Halloween can truly be.

So why should Christmas have all the fun?  Here are my picks for some of the most glamorous Halloween accessories:

1.  Jewelry Mask on Sequined Stick: I’ve always wanted to have a masquerade-themed Halloween party like in The Phantom of the Opera filled with sequins dresses and secret identities.

2.  Alexander McQueen Two-Faced Skull Platform Pumps:  They may cost you a month’s rent, but there’s nothing scarier than a shortage of McQueen in your wardrobe.  These skullcandy chic shoes aren’t just Halloween, they’re for everyday.

3.  Scary Script Halloween Party Invitations: Parties are all about the details and that starts with the invitation.

4.  Halloween Steel Wire Cake Stand: This spiderweb cake stand could be the centerpiece of any October gathering.

5.  Purple Flicker Candle with Spooky Halloween Scene: Candles always set a spooky mood making them an All Hallow’s Eve decor essential.

Holiday Adventures of 2011

I’m having a great time getting away from New York for a bit and visiting with friends and family over the holidays.  I traveled to Delaware to see my mom then to Boston to see my Dad then back to Delaware.  Here are some of the highlights of my week off so far:

Socialite Stocking Stuffers

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a very good girl this year. I know because I’ve developed excellent karma. All I want for Christmas is the socialite life and the accessories to go with it. If you are stumped as to what to put in my stocking, look no further.

1. Cute couture key chains add a bit of socialite flare to the fancy items your carry around with you each day. They fit perfectly in your stocking or can be tied to a ribbon wrapping a larger gift to make the presentation even more festive. This adorable holiday penguin is from Coach.

2. No socialite’s stocking is complete without a small bottle of champagne to make mimosas on Christmas morning.

3. The winter months can make your skin very dry. I don’t know how I’d get through the winter without Vaseline.  Bravo’s Mad Fashion star Chris March, collaborated with Vaseline to create the Swarovski Crystal Encrusted Vaseline Jar. Not only is this the best cure for dry lips and hands, the jar is also a great decoration.

4. A socialite’s stocking should always have a little something from Tiffany’s, Harry Winston, and/or Cartier that sparkles likes the star on top of the tree.

5. Fun electronics covers always make great stocking stuffers. I’m particularly obsessed with this kate spade iPhone cover.

Thank you Santa! Wishing you a Couture Christmas and all the socialite greatness 2012 has to offer!!

Naughty or Nice? Happy Holidays Either Way!

Socialite Advice: Santa doesn’t care if you’re naughty or nice as long as you act like royalty during the holidays!

Funny Story: This year on my little sister’s birthday, when I gave her a card that said, “Happy Birthday Caroline!  Thanks for always being the Pippa to my Kate Middleton,”  She said, “What’s a Pippa?”  I can’t believe she didn’t get it.  It was such a compliment.  I guess this year’s Royal Wedding didn’t have the same impact on everyone as it did on me.  It truly was the highlight of my 2011.

The Ultimate Holiday Handbags

Handbags make me happy and so do holidays. Even more than most socialites, I have a thing for handbags. I think of them as works of art that you carry with you always. Therefore, you need a separate designer purse for every occasion and/or day of the week. Since much of Alexander McQueen’s insanely crazy designs came from a dark place, I suggest going with a McQueen for Halloween. The designer and the holiday go together so well that they rhyme.

Now that you have a Halloween handbag that may even be shaped like or include a skull, it’s time to find a nice festive bag to bring along to all the holiday parties you are bound to be invited to. I love this preppy red plaid Dooney & Bourke Tartan Barrel Satchel ($178) available at both Macy’s and Lord & Taylor. Its colors are so festive that it serves as a holiday ornament all on its own. Having been an ugly duckling in my life, I love the Dooney & Bourke signature swan.

This Alexander McQueen Dagger Skull Pony Clutch is a little pricier at $1595, but is so stylish it’s scary! Frighteningly fabulous!
