DJ MAKJ Takes Webster Hall

Webster Hall Music

The EDM scene is so hot right now. So when I got a VIP invite to see DJ MAKJ headline at Webster Hall, I was so in. Before the show, I enjoyed burritos and bottles in the press area. Not only did I get to meet some awesome people from the press, I also got to chat with MAKJ himself right before his performance. He was super funny and had me laughing pretty much the whole time.

During the show, I Ioved how he added the old school beats of Destiny’s Child and Dr. Dre into his mixes. When an ariel artist started swinging from the ceiling, I was amazed by her crazy routine and ability to fearlessly fly over the dance floor. It’s time I started mixing things up more!

The World’s a Stage with BA STAR Smoky Eye Shadow Palettes

1

If you weren’t a cheerleader, dancer, or performer, chances are, that at some point, you wished you had been.  So when I was sent samples from, BA STAR, the top makeup brand for cheerleaders, dancers, and trend setters, it took me back to my days in dance and cheerleading.  I was always drawn to more glamorous sports.  Anything that requires big hair and makeup were forever my athletic activities of choice.  To be honest, I was never a talented dancer or cheerleader, but when I went to competition, my makeup was always dramatically flawless.  I loved putting together a stage smokey eye.  It’s great to be talented and all, but looking the part is half the battle.  I’m sure the girls from Bring it On spent just as much time on their makeup as they did practicing their routines.

The flashback to my life as an armature performer, got me thinking about how the cheerleader’s signature glittery smokey eyes also fits into New York nightlife.  So I took the dramatic smokey eye with a touch of glitter from pom poms to Park Ave. by applying the Natural Shadow Palette before going out on the town uniting my New York City life with my former teenage self.  So if you’re also looking to bring out your inner Texas Cheerleader or Dance Mom, you should totally check out BA STAR.  Aspiring Socialite readers will receive 50% off at checkout using the discount code BBSMOKY.
