Boys Meets Girl Meets NYFW

Boy Meets Girls Meets NYFW

I’ve long been a fan of Stacy Igel’s Boy Meets Girl line of edgy, yet casual socialite wear.  So when I came across this Polyvore contest on iFabbo for chance to win a set of tickets for you and your bestie to the Boy Meets Girl by Stacy Igel & Lockerz “Forever Young” New York Fashion Week show just by creating a fab NYFW outfit, I couldn’t resist entering.  I think you get an outfit too.  Thanks to the positive influence of competition, I’ve finally joined Polyvore and I’m obsessed with their layouts which are truly a fashion blogger’s best friend.  Follow Me on Polyvore!

Be sure to like my outfit on Facebook and Polyvore.  The one with the most likes will win!  Don’t forget to check out the Boy Meets Girl line.

If you’re reading this Betsey, I sadly don’t have any of your vintage pieces, but I would really like a ticket to your NYFW show!

Fabulous Broke Girl Contest by Young, Fabulous & Broke

Though sometimes I get mistaken for an actual socialite, I’m actually broke. For broke people, entering contests to win free stuff is a great way to supplement your undesirable income.  The quintessential L.A. brand Young, Fabulous & Broke is currently doing a ‘Fabulous Broke Girl Contest’ on their Facebook page where fans can submit a short video of their best broke girl story.  As instructed by YFB, “Stories should sound like the time you couldn’t pay your rent and ended up sleeping on your friends couch because you bought Chanel boots. Or maybe even the time you could only afford the 99 cent store so you’d park your Porsche in the back so no one would see you.”  It’s really funny and a great way to win a $500 shopping spree.  But, you need to get your video in fast!  The contest ends this Saturday December 11th at 11:00 a.m. EST and then voting begins.  Only persons residing in United States who are at least 18 years of age can enter.  If I don’t win, I hope that one of you do.

I’m so behind on my video.  But, I promise it will be coming soon.

Here’s a little preview of my 100% true broke girl story: Once I was chatting with this guy in a bar who’d bought me a few drinks.  When it was time for me to go home, he asked how I was getting home.  When I said I was walking he immediately reached into his wallet and handed me $20.  I decided to walk home anyway and used the money for groceries.  Now when I go out, I always look to collect cab fare.

French Connection Inspiration & Mystery

French Connection U.S. has teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures to promote the studio’s upcoming release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Beginning on November 7th, all French Connection U.S. retail locations will display Sherlock Holmes-inspired looks in store windows as homage to the film and the brand’s British roots. Who knew that French Connection is actually a British company? But, El Corte Inglés (The English Cut) is Spanish so I guess it makes sense.

You can also enter a sweepstakes starting on November 7th within retail stores for a chance to win a free trip to NYC to partake in a private screening of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows before it is released in theatres on December 16th. If you can’t make it to a store, entry into the sweepstakes is also available to consumers through French Connection’s ecommerce site. I saw the first Sherlock Holmes film in theaters and left having no idea what went on in the entire film. But, what’s fashion without a little mystery?
