MONET GIVEAWAY: So Glam It’s Scary!

Halloween may be a fun excuse to dress up as something else and watch horror films, however, in actually aspiring to greatness is all about faking it until you make it.  If there is anything I have learned in my first year residing in NYC, it is that this is a city of perception not of reality. So, here everyday is Halloween.  In honor of this glamorous All Hallows Eve, I will be giving away this elegant string of pearls with removable ribbon compliments of MONET to a fellow aspiring socialite.  If you haven’t noticed already, this necklace is the perfect accessory for any Halloween costume, particularity a flapper.  To win, send a tweet to @Aspiresocialite or leave a comment on this post (include your email address) telling me what you are going to be for Halloween.

Ever since it’s founding in 1929, MONET has been the leader in costume jewelry.  Their impeccable craftsmanship never ceases to have a vintage feel.  MONET has a collection for every month each named after a song.  This string of pearls is from the Piano Man collection.  Be sure to check out MONET’s Online Shop up just in time for the holidays.  So go ahead and socialite up any Halloween costume or holiday party dress with MONET.  For more information on the fabulousness of costume jewelry and collectables pick up a copy of Costume Jewelry by Judith Miller.

Facebook Frenzy!

On the evening of September 30, 2010 while the rest of the world was anticipating the release of The Social Network starring Jesse Eisenberg, I was partying with NYC’s social media stars at the Facebook GeneratioNext Wrap Party having drinks on the tab of the real Mark Zuckerberg. The Facebook crew put on a huge soiree in celebration of Advertising Week and of course I was on the guest list. The event featured food, an open bar, and a breathtaking Cirque du Soleil performance. In order to impress the people I usually only interact with on Twitter, I spent big bucks on an amazing BCBG dress. It was totally worth the investment because I like to be seen in a stylish light by my friends and followers. There is a quote from The Social Network that I think totally encompasses the theme of this party, which goes, “We don’t know what it will be. We don’t know what it could be. All we know is that it is cool.”  Well, I have experienced for myself many times over what Facebook has become and I could not be more blown away. The website is truly an example of what aspiring to greatness and succeeding truly means. Can’t wait to see the movie!

Polo Ralph Lauren and Lord & Taylor Fight Breast Cancer

LAUREN PINK, a new line of sportswear and home products by Polo Ralph Lauren sold exclusively at Lord & Taylor, with a pre-party for some of NYC’s finest bloggers at their Fifth Ave. store.  A portion of the proceeds from the LAUREN PINK line will go to fight breast cancer. I simply can’t get enough of programs that combine charity with fashion.  In a way, they really go hand-in-hand.  While your style speaks volumes about your personality, the charities that you support are at the essence of your character. At the risk of sounding corny, the LAUREN PINK line of plush hoodies, sweaters, and blankets will bring warmth and comfort in more ways than one.  On top of introducing the LAUREN PINK line, Lord & Taylor donated $5 to the Pink Pony Fund for everyone who showed up to the event wearing pink, they donated another $5 for everyone who checked in on FourSquare (I need to get on that,) and yet another $5 for everyone who completed the World of Lauren trivia game.  Hats off to Polo Ralph Lauren and Lord & Taylor for supporting this cause in such a creative way!

Bobbi Brown at Lord & Taylor

Fashion Week may be over, but the fun has just begun. Lord and Taylor‘s new state of the art cosmetics department has finally opened!  Makeup maven Bobbi Brown and her beauty team will be making an appearance at Lord and Taylor on Fifth Ave. Thursday September 23.  Bobbi will be in the store signing copies of her new book Beauty Rules from noon to 2 p.m.  Her beauty team will be there until 7 p.m. giving makeovers and consultations.  Please make an appointment with the Bobbi Brown counter before arriving.

Fashion’s Night Out 2010 at Catherine Malandrino

Fashion is power!  It has a profound power over me.  For my first ever Fashion’s Night Out as a New Yorker, I sipped champagne and organic cocktails at the beautiful Catherine Malandrino store in the world-famous Meatpacking District. The clothes looked even more amazing on this special night and the store came alive with the sounds of a DJ spinning the hot tunes of today and decades past.  It was a good thing we got there early because by 8:30 p.m. there was a line out the door.

Not only did I get a free bag to commemorate my experience, I also had my hair done compliments of Blow, the New York blow dry bar.  After having a ball at the House of Catherine Malandrino, I made my way over to the Apple store to celebrate fashion through a photo shoot powered by Mac technology.  It was a night worthy of socialite status.  Anyone who has ever dreamed of fashion and all it stands for could feel the magic in the air.  I must admit, however, that I did commit a fashion faux pas when I took off my heels in the middle of the store because my feet needed a break.  But, like I always say, a socialite never compromises or explains herself.  So whatever.  I have already begun to count down the days until Fashion’s Night Out 2011!
