Loving Saucy Glossie in the T.J. Maxx Commercial!

The voice of real girls is letting us all know that bloggers, particularly fashion bloggers, can be stars too. Saucy Glossy a.k.a Lindsey Calla was one of the first fellow fashion bloggers that I followed on Twitter back when I first embarked on my socialite journey through the fashionable corners of the Internet. I love her ability to publish amazing looks everyday each one greater than the last. Fashion bloggers are so much more than just journalists, we’re Internet personalities who propel ourselves into the spotlight every chance we get. We may cover breaking news, but we rarely take a back seat to it. In the past decades, magazine covers were dominated by models, then actresses, then reality stars, and now the bloggers are moving in on the action.

I’m also a proud Maxxinista who never met a T.J. Maxx she didn’t love. There’s nothing I enjoy more after a busy day than weaving through the clothing, shoe department, and bag section filling up my cart with affordable designer treasures. Even if I had millions of dollars, I would still be a Maxxinista. Best of luck Lindsey in all your endeavors. You are so inspiring!

BodyRock Sport Releases the Empower ‘Em Collection

As you probably already know from all of the pink ribbons around, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Both retailers and individuals themselves do great work not just this month, but all year around so that someday we will live in a breast cancer free world. I was very touched by BodyRock Sport’s release of the Empower ‘Em line this month containing the first post-mastectomy sports bra. Now, women who have conquered cancer can now also conquer the gym.

Though I’m lucky to not have experienced the tragedy of breast cancer in my family, I feel that it’s my duty as a digital public figure to create awareness of the issue.  BodyRock, founded by fitness and fashion guru, Kelly Dooley, has always been committed to bringing fashion to the world of fitness.  Socialites and celebrities alike are often photographed going to and from the gym so it’s important to be stylish while working out or at least color coordinated.  Aside from sexy styles that will have any woman feeling like Kim Kardashian at the gym, they also feature unique fabrics and distinctive embellishments with smart details, such as built-in ipod pockets, zippered compartments, and comfortable tagless labels.

The Joy of LAYLAJOY Footwear

I think I just discovered the most sophisticated new shoe line of the year. As those of you devout readers already know, I’m a huge fan of transitional and comfortable pieces.  When it comes to shoes, they are pretty much all I wear.  No matter how beautiful a shoe is, if you’re not comfortable in your own shoes (both literally and figuratively,) you will never be at your best.  When I came across LAYLAJOY, a new line of footwear making its very first shoe debut, I immediately realized that I was looking at a line that shares my vision.

Designed by experienced shoe designer, Layla-Joy Williams, who designed for major brands such as Nine West and Converse, the newly emerged LAYLAJOY line is both elegant and edgy.  Containing qualities of both the poised ballerina and the studded London rocker, you can make Natalie Portman proud by being both the black and the white swan in a comfy-chic pair of LAYLAJOY ballerina flats.  Best of luck to the lovely Ms. Williams on her new line!

Get the Look for Less at reFINEstyle.com

Think all those genuine Louis Vuitton bags and Louboutin heels you see all over the city are first generation? Think again. Aspiring Socialites everywhere are discovering the wonderful world of consignment. reFINEstyle.com is an online marketplace of pre-loved designer fashion and accessories. Curated by a hand selected team of sellers across the country, an ever-changing selection of consignment merchandise is offered to the fashion-minded buyer at greatly reduced prices.  Buying designer goods from a respected consignment website is a lot better than buying from eBay.  In fact, I don’t suggest buying designer goods, especially bags from eBay.  Unlike on eBay where it is basically the luck of the draw, reFINEstyle.com works with reputable sellers vetted by the website that only supply the real thing.

Having bought used designer goods myself, I can tell you that much of this so-called “pre-loved” couture, looks as if it has never been touched.  The Dallas-based website founded by former HR exec, Megan Masoner, (I love it when fashionistas start their own businesses) has an ever-changing selection of over 800 premier brands. Sales last between 7-14 days.  Buyers on reFINEstyle can either “bid” on items or select the “buy it now” option for the price listed.  G3 sales (“Going, going, gone!”) allow for the possibility of scoring great deals on items whose prices are reduced up to 15 times over the course of the sale.  So start strategizing now on how to navigate this dynamic site full of designer treasures.  It’s every Aspiring Socialite’s best-kept secret.

P.S. – This $2,000+ Chanel probably wasn’t the best choice to display affordability, but it was so cute that I had to use it.  However, they do actually have  a lot more affordable pre-loved designer bags.

Best Boots for Fall

This is a total rain-inspired post. After today’s downpour and being attacked this week by fall allergies that hadn’t existed before I moved to the city, I began to detest the new fall season.  Then I remembered how much I’ve been looking forward to wearing boots and leggings around the city and forgot all about the rain or my allergies.  Every socialite knows that when it comes to cold weather style, you can’t just have one pair of boots.  There are different style for different outfits, weather, and sometimes days of the week.  Here are four key styles you need to have one hand as the weather turns from August to Autumn:

1.  Rain Boots: New York is a walking city.  So when the rain is coming down and the streets are inches thick in water, you are going to need a good pair of rain boots to make it home.  I will always have a soft place in my heart for the classic Burberry rain boots.  Not only will they keep your feet and the lower parts of your outfit dry, they are also stylish enough to wear when it’s not raining.

2.  Crazy Boots: Every girl needs a pair of boots in her wardrobe that stand out.  I mean really stand out.  They aren’t a neutral color or an everyday design.  They don’t need to go with everything.  They just need to be fun. Made with original vintage kilim rugs, Kiboots are all one of a kind.

3.  Black Boots: Don’t be afraid to have more than one pair of black boots.  No matter if you prefer wedges, heels, or flats, these are your go-to boots for the season.

4.  Short Booties: Keep your wardrobe diverse by having a variety of tall and short boots.  Booties look great with a dress or skirt.
